Asiwaju Of Osogbo, Ajadi Badmus, Dies At 83…Gov Adeleke, Igbalaye, Ganiyu Olaoluwa Offer Condolences
A prominent community leader in Osogbo, Osun State capital, Alhaji Ajadi Badmus, died on Sunday.
Alhaji Ajadi Badmus, a one-time president of Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), died at 83. He was until his death on Sunday, the Asiwaju of Osogbo land.
His younger brother, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus, is the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had since offered his condolences while describing Alhaji Ajadi’s passing as ‘a very sad development’ noting that he has died at a time ‘Osogbo is witnessing rapid development in line with his dream’.
Governor Adeleke in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed condoled with the Ataoja-in-Council and all the sons and daughters of Osogbo on the passing of Alhaji Ajadi, who he called “an extraordinary lover of development, a passionate agent of change and a tireless mobilizer for the growth of the state capital and the state in general’
The governor recalled how in the last two years, the deceased community leader has been a constant energizer of growth initiatives with a dispassionate push for industrial and social development of the state while recognizing his role in ensuring materialization of several federal and state projects in the state.
‘As a leader of his people, the late Asiwaju would regularly reach out to me reminding me of one thing or the other to do about one project or the other for his people. The deceased community leader was an advocate of Osogbo for all citizens of the state and beyond, hence his advocacy to upgrade the state capital as the home for all Osun people.
Our Government understands and accepts the late Asiwaju’s philosophy of state governance and we have matched our words with action through a systematic upgrade of the state capital and other major towns in the state. He was a counselor for public good. He was a public-spirited personality who lived up to the billing as Asiwaju of Osogbo Land.
My only regret was that late Aswaju did not wait for the inauguration of the ultra modern flyovers at Osogbo which we planned together. He was regularly monitoring the projects and always regularly expressed the appreciation of Osogbo people for those massive infrastructure projects.
In his memory, our administration will ensure successful completion of all ongoing projects at the capital and will also do more to leave a legacy of a truly befitting state capital. Let me add that our government will continue the push for the commencement of some federal projects already sited in the capital. We will not allow the dreams of late Asiwaju to perish without realization.
On this note, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the royal father of Osogbo Land, and the great Badmus family. We take solace in the commendable and lasting legacy of service Chief Badmus left behind. We will remember him all the time as a leader who was selfless in action, loyal to community service and altruistic in advocacy for the good of the people’ the governor added.
A prominent indigene of Osogbo ,Alhaji Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa who is popularly called Asejere, has also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Ajadi Badmus.
Alhaji Olaoluwa, who is the Chairman of Osun State Commissioners’ Forum and Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Adigun Olaide described Chief Badmus as a true colossus whose towering presence and immense contribution have left an indelible mark on Osogbo’s history and the collective memory of the Osogbo community.

His efforts towards the socio-economic and cultural development of Osogbo will forever remain cherished. He was not just a leader of the people, but a father figure whose wisdom and leadership guided Osogbo for decades. He will be greatly missed’ he said.
Asejere extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Asiwaju, praying that Allah grants them the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss while specially condoling the Osogbo community, which Chief Badmus ‘so passionately served, and the Royal Stool of Osogbo Land, led by His Royal Majesty, the Ataoja of Osogbo’.
He added that Chief Ajadi’s passing ‘is not just a loss to the immediate family but also a loss to all the indigenes of Osogbo’ while urging everyone to take solace in the rich legacy he left behind cognizant that his life was a testimony to faith, service, and dedication.

The SSG in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media aide, Mr. Kehinde Adeoye also commended Chief Ajadi for his significant contribution to good governance and his pivotal role in the Imole movement that aims at fostering a brighter future for Osun State.
‘It is with great shock and an aching heart that I write these words to honor the memory of a true inspiration and father figure, Alhaji Ajadi Adekilekun Badmus, the late Asiwaju of Osogbo who passed away earlier today. His passing leaves an immense void in my life and in the lives of countless others who were touched by his light.
To me, Chief Ajadi was not just a leader; he was a guiding star, illuminating the path of peace, unity, and progress. His unwavering commitment to our community and his selfless dedication to the welfare of others will forever resonate in our hearts. I am deeply grateful for the lessons he imparted, the kindness he exemplified, and the love he shared so freely.
From the moment I met him, I was struck by his passion for all that is good. He was a true patriot, devoted not just to his people but to humanity at large. His tireless efforts to uplift the needy and his relentless pursuit of community development are testaments to his extraordinary character. As a philanthropist, he showed us what it means to give without expectation and to lead with compassion.
Today, we celebrate a giant whose contribution extends far beyond his personal achievements. He believed in good governance and was a steadfast partner in the Imole movement, inspiring us all to strive for a brighter future for Osogbo and Osun State at large.
