Take Proactive Measures To Ensure ‘Peaceful’ Thursday, Osun APC Tells Police, NSCDC As Stand-Off Over Control Of LGs Begins Again

Osun State APC on Wednesday urged the police , NSCDC and other security agencies to take proactive measures to ensure a ‘peaceful’ Thursday alleging that the ruling Accord Party is planning to create a tense standoff over the control of local governments in the state.

The party alleged that those who were elected as chairmen and councillors on February 23,2025, who are members of PDP,  will be invading the 30 local government secretariats in the state and the Area Office tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, 2026.

APC accused the February 2025 LG chairmen of planning to import things into the state who will be joined by local government workers and they will jointly invade the local government secretariats.

‘Information has it that the illegally selected PDP local government executives have employed the services of hardened and dangerous political hoodlums from within and outside the state to carry out the invasion any moment from now.

It is the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke that has emboldened the said illegally selected purported local government chairmen to regroup for the invasion exercise.

Further investigation revealed that the illegal PDP local government council chairmen’s plan to use maximum force to take over the local government secretariats was the outcome of a script designed by them in conjunction with the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE) who have never hidden their readiness to be willing tools in the hands of the state government under Governor Adeleke’ the party submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its spokesman, Chief Kola Olabisi on Wednesday.

The party argued that it has a just cause and not fighting  for the wrong reasons.

‘The Supreme Court in its judgement on one of the suits instituted by the purported illegal PDP council executives had described them as unknown to the law of the land which would be making any legal challenge by them in the court of law as mere meddlesome people’ the statement said.

The party urged the state police command, the Department of State Services(DSS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to take a proactive measures to stop them from plunging the state into avoidable crisis capable of rocking it to the foundation.

‘There is no tact and diplomacy in a set of hoodlums teaming up to promote disruption of public peace in the state on a matter that is still very much alive in the Court of Appeal’ the party said while adding that ‘we are alertingmembers of the public and the statutory security services of the evil intention of the purported PDP local government council chairmen as we wouldn’t want the repeat of the killing of one of the reinstated APC  local government council chairmen, Honourable Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government Area, who was killed by some of the identified PDP thugs currently on trial at the Federal High Court, Abuja’.

What stood as the starting point for the seeming unending political tension and the stand-off over the control of LGS in the state was the ruling delivered by the Court of Appeal, Akure, Ondo State on February 10, 2025.

Recall that the interpretation of the court ruling in question had sparked controversy.

Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), the state PDP, the state APC, and other stakeholders in the State of the Living Spring had disagreed sharply on how to interpret the court ruling in question.

The Adeleke Administration and the state APC had also, once again, disagreed on how to interpret the ‘fresh’ ruling that was delivered by the same Court of Appeal, Akure, Ondo State on June 13, 2025.
