Lagos House Of Assembly: Meranda Proves She’s ‘In Charge’, Takes Over Speaker’s Office

The new Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mojisola Meranda, has proved that she is in control of the affairs of the state legislature by moving into the Speaker’s office.

She asserted herself as the new Speaker by taking over the Speaker’s office on Monday.

Recall that Meranda had become the new Speaker following the removal of Hon Mudashiru Obasa, during the plenary session held by the lawmakers on Monday, January 13, 2025.

 Hon  Mudashiru Obasa , who had won a sixth term in March 2023, and had on June 6,2023, gotten elected as Speaker for the third time, had however returned to the country to assert that he remains the Speaker.

Hon Mojisola Meranda, has under her belt, a special achievement-she is the first woman to head the state parliament.

Lagos State was created was created on May 27, 1967.
