Female Children Identify Bad Parenting, Bullying, Sexual Assault As Prevalent Child Abuse Cases In Kwara

Female children in Kwara state, on Tuesday, identified bad parenting, bullying and sexual harassment as common child abuse  cases  in the state.

The children disclosed this during  the awareness programme organized by the state government in collaboration with the Olive Community Initiative (OCDI) aimed at curbing child abuse and gender -based violence (GBV) in the state.

One of the girl- child attendees of the programme ;  Mariam Danmaigoro from Ilorin East local government  identified bad parenting as one of the child abuse  cases in the state.

She said some parents are found of sending their children on errands during  the odd hours .

Morenike Kasim from Asa local government  and Oluwabukola Rajin from Ilorin South local government  also  identified bullying and sexual assault as other forms of child abuses prevalent in their localities.

Team@orientactualmags.com  learned the programme that had as its  theme ‘State Of The Nigerian Girl Summit Songs 2022’  was  aimed at documenting various  child abuse cases  in the state

Films and videos were shown to the participants on documented cases of gender -based violence and child abuse.

Declaring the programme open, Assistant Director, Child’s Directorate, Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajia Idiat Alabi- Amuda, urged the participants to feel free to disclose the abuses they had suffered in their respective localities.

Assistant Director, Child’s Directorate, Kwara state Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajia Idiat Alabi- Amuda, addressing participants during the awareness programme  on child abuse organized by the state government in collaboration with  the Olive Community Initiative (OCDI) in Ilorin, Tuesday.

She said the programme was organized in furtherance of the state government’s efforts at eradicating gender -based violence (GBV) in the state.

The representative of Olive Community Development Initiative, Blessing Akanbi, also urged female children in the state to always cry out whenever anybody abuses or attempts to abuse them.

Submitting that an act of violence against any woman has all women as victims, she urged the participants to help any woman who suffers abuse by exposing the perpetrator of such an act- Team@orientactualmags.com
