Hajj 1446 AH: Return Stranded Pilgrims To Their Homeland Without Delay, PDP Tells Kwara Govt

Kwara State PDP on Tuesday expressed disappointment and condemned what it called ‘humiliating ordeal’ being experienced by pilgrims from the state who have remained stranded in the Holy Land of Mecca, several days after performing the hajj rituals.
Calling this an international embarrassment and another unfortunate example of Governor Abdulrahman’s failure of leadership, the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara in a statement issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com urged the governor to speak up and address Kwarans on the true situation of things .
‘Reports reaching the PDP Secretariat from Mecca indicated that pilgrims from other states, including Kebbi State—many of who arrived the holy cities after Kwara contingents—have since been conveyed back to Nigeria, while Kwara pilgrims have been abandoned in limbo with no definite return date or proper communication from the Kwara State Hajj authorities. More troubling is the revelation that the Kwara State Hajj officials have openly admitted that they cannot guarantee when the pilgrims will be transported back home’ the statement added.
The party has also accused the governor of being lackadaisical and failing to take necessary measures to save the situation.
‘In the midst of this, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, as always, has remained missing in action. He is now busy back home playing golf and has refused to provide leadership or offer any concrete support to the stranded citizens thousands of miles away from home. This is the height of irresponsibility and a testament to the absentee nature of his administration.
This development not only endangers the mental well-being of the pilgrims—many of who are elderly and low-income earners who saved for years to fulfil their religious obligations—but also puts the image of Kwara State in the global spotlight for the wrong reasons. It is yet another sad reflection of a government that has failed its people at home and abroad’ the statement submitted while calling on traditional rulers, respected Islamic clerics, the State House of Assembly and civil society organizations to demand answers and action from the state government.
‘Pilgrims must not be treated as forgotten cargo—they are our parents, elders, brothers and sisters, who deserve dignity, care, and timely return to their homeland’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
