Rashidi Ladoja To Make History As 1st Former Governor To Become Monarch In Southwest
Alhaji Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a chemical engineer, who was the governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2006; and from 2006 to 2007, is set to make history.
A former director of Standard Trust Bank Limited, Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja, who is designated as Olubadan of Ibadanland, would be having under his belt, a special achievement- the first former governor to become a monarch in Southwest.
The throne had become vacant after Oba Akinloye Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of lbadanland, joined his ancestors on Monday.

Ibadan is the capital of Oyo State, and late Oba Akinloye Olakulehin had in June last year succeeded Oba Lekan Balogun, who joined his ancestors on March 14, 2024.
Recall that the Olubadan-In-Council had in April last year nominated Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland after the throne had become vacant.
Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who was the 42nd Olubadan, had passed away at the age of 81.
The Olubadan-designate, Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja was born on September 25, 1944, and he is the only living former governor of Oyo State
He would also be the second former senator to become Olubadan of Ibadanland cognizant that Oba Lekan Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan was a member of the senate.
Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja is expected to be the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
A video in which the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Salihu Akanmu Adetunji had prayed for Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja to become Olubadan of Ibadanland began to trend online on Monday.
It was an Islamic event that had the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhyideen Salman Husayn Al-Imam as guest speaker and late Oba Salihu Akanmu Adetunji had prayed for the former governor, who was sitting next to him, that he would also become Olubadan of Ibadanland like him and he said ‘bismilahi Rahmani Raheem’ thrice before reciting Surah Al-Kawthar while Sheikh Muhyideen Salman Husayn Al-Imam later asked Ladoja to prostrate before the late monarch so that God will approve the prayer which he promptly did.
