Kwara South Senate Seat: KSUG Leaders Preach Message Of ‘Igbomina Lokan’ During Visit To Olusin Of Isanlu-Isin As Monarch Praises Their ‘Uncommon Virtue’
The Kwara South Unity Group (KSUG) continued its consultation efforts on Thursday with a visit to the palace of Olusin of Isanlu-Isin, Oba Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede in Isanlu-Isin, Isin local government, during which they emphasized the need to ensure that all the components and blocs in the Kwara South senatorial district are given equal opportunities and also seen and considered as equals.

Leader of the KSUG delegation, Hon Adebayo Jimoh Alao, a former Commissioner for Sports, and a one-time chairman of Oyun local government, who began by stating that the purpose of the visit is to urge the monarch to champion the agitation for an Igbomina indigene to occupy Kwara South parliament seat in 2027, also emphasized the need to have this microzoned to Irepodun local government while having Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun in view.
The main objective of KSUG, he noted, is to advocate for fairness and equity and ensure that the ‘bond of unity’ in Kwara South remains indestructible.

‘We are members of Kwara South Unity Group under the umbrella of APC. In Kwara South, we have three blocs; Ibolo, Ekiti and igbomina. With the 2027 general election drawing near, we have discussed and we have asked questions, where should the senate seat go to this time around? Ekiti has done it for 12 years, our elder brother, Senator Simon Ajibola. served for 12 years, and God helped him. Our younger brother, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim from Ibolo also served for four years, may God forgive him and may his soul rest in peace. When he left, it got to Senator Yisa Lola Ashiru, he is on his second term, by God’s grace, if we add his eight years to the four years of Senator Rafiu, it will be 12 years, the bloc that deserves to produce the next occupant of the parliament seat is Igbomina.
It should be noted that in Kwara South, igbomina has more population than the rest of us. Because there are two local governments in Ibolo; Oyun and Offa and, Ekiti bloc has Oke-Ero and Ekiti local governments but Igbomina has three; Ifelodun local government with about eighteen wards, Isin and Irepodun local governments. So, we thought it wise that in the upcoming senate election, if we will not cheat each other since we are siblings from three different mothers, it should be the turn of the Igbomina bloc.
We urge Your Highness to please talk to other monarchs in Kwara South especially those who are from Ibolo and Ekiti to please make their subjects see a reason why there should be fairness and equity.
It is also important to note that there are contestants from Igbomina land but we are not only agitating for an Igbomina son but a qualified candidate and that is why we are urging support for Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi’s candidacy.
He is a good-natured person, people like him are very rare in Nigerian politics. He sought for party nomination and did not get it on two occasions but he has not only remained a member of the party but also worked for the success of the candidate nominated by the party.
He had even increased his support for party activities and philanthropic activities.
Sequel to his appointment as a member of Board of TETFUND ,his impacts has been felt and we are sure that if he emerges as our representative in the senate, he will do more’ he said.
Hon Ajan Agbenisi, who spoke on behalf of the Ekiti bloc, also spoke in the same vein and emphasized the need to strengthen the existing ‘bond of unity’ with fairness and equity.
He said it is important to give Igbomina people who have not occupied the parliament seat for 16 consecutive years the opportunity to do so.
‘Please, help us to talk to other royal fathers, that the igbomina bloc should be allowed to produce the next senator and please, note that our favorite candidate is Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi, because I know that if he gets elected, we won’t regret it and no one will regret it. I know he’s a good person’ he said.
Also speaking, former Chairman of Ifelodun local government, Dr Babtunde Salami said it is important that the Igbomina bloc should present a common front while noting that the ‘Igbomina lokan agenda is a just cause.
He said importance should be attached fairness and equity while also presenting Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi’s ‘value proposition’.
‘Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi as said earlier has tried to get party nomination twice but he still hasn’t stopped trying and making efforts to achieve this. There’s nothing about igbomina that Engineer Adeyemi has not been a part of. As a national executive member of Omo Ibile Igbomina I know his efforts and unflinching support , he has always been there for us. He is competent and uniquely qualified’ Hon Salami added.
Hon Waheed Abolaji Alenuloro also said there is a good reason for the Igbomina bloc to demand for the senate seat in 2027 adding that no one can fault the line of argument they have presented which is the need to ensure fairness and equity.
‘Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi is the right person for the job’ he submitted while adding that ‘we believe this is a journey of promise and good mutual conversation, Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi is tested and trusted, we will not regret having him as our representative’.
‘I’m from Ibolo in Oyun local government, Im from Igbana. And I don’t want anyone to be surprised that Iam supporting an igbomina man, Iam doing this because I know it is in the interest of everyone’ he said.
Former Chairman of Isin local government, Hon Tunde fadipe and Hon Shade Olanrewaju in their separate speeches noted that the need to ensure fairness and equity gave birth to ‘Igbomina lokan agitation’, asserting that it is not open to debate that it is the turn of Igbomina people in Kwara State to produce the representative of Kwara South in the senate.
In his speech, Oba Solomon Oloyede praised the group’s uncommon virtue while also commending the members for seeking input and engaging in discussions with the stakeholders.
He noted that although punctuality matters, it is however in short supply these days especially among politicians, the KSUG delegation should therefore be commended for demonstrating positive moral qualities.
Oba Solomon Oloyede noted that he had given the KSUG delegation a 1pm appointment and he had expected that as it is commonly done by politicians, they would arrive at his palace at about 2 or 3 pm but he was pleasantly surprised when told that they were already at his palace at 12.28 pm hence his decision to grant them audience without delay and he had done this at 12.35pm.
He called this an uncommon virtue.
Leader of the KSUG delegation, Hon Adebayo Jimoh Alao had earlier in his speech thanked the monarch for commending them for attaching importance to punctuality while noting that it is an evidence that Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi will do things differently.
Oba Solomon Oloyede promised to continue to support any efforts aimed at advancing the development and growth of Kwara South and Kwara State as a whole.-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
