Gov Adeleke Warns Osun Residents Against Violence, Discloses Plans To Establish Mobile Courts
Members of the Osun State Security Council have once again, met to review and draft new service wide security measures to protect lives and property from local and external threats.
The meeting attended by all the heads of security agencies in the state was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi with far reaching conclusions on measures to further secure the state from infiltration by bandits and ‘domestic’ criminals.
The Deputy Governor conveyed the commendation of Governor Adeleke to the heads of the security agencies and expressed optimism that the ongoing security plan will strengthen the security and safety of Osun State people.
The meeting urged the public to deepen partnership with security agencies by sharing information and reporting any suspicious developments in their areas.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has condemned the rising political violence in some parts of the state while directing the Commissioner of Police to tackle political killings across Ijeshaland.
Pleading with the political class to submit to people’s will and avoid violence, the governor decried recent killings in Ilesa, urging politicians to eschew thuggery and bloodletting.
‘If truly our goal is to serve the people, we must focus on the ballot and free exercise of electoral choices by our people. I urge the Commissioner of Police to secure the affected areas and stop further killings’ a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed quoted him as saying.
The statement added that the state government has also concluded arrangement to set up mobile courts that will comprise eight (8) Magistrates.
‘In a new partnership between the executive and the judicial arms of government, the mobile court is to attend to overnight criminal activities, preliminary remand proceedings and other matters necessary to decongest the detention facilities among others.
The process started with a letter from the governor’s legal adviser, Nurudeen Kareem Esq. to the Chief Judge of the state, calling for the establishment of the mobile courts to address congestion crisis across the detention facilities of most law enforcement agencies.
Governor Adeleke affirmed that his intervention is necessitated by the need to avert violations of human rights, prevent security risks associated with congested cells and ensure that basic criminal justice procedures are maintained while efforts are intensified to address the strike by the judicial workers.
