2027 Kwara Guber: Withdraw Public Declaration Of Support For ‘Kwara North’ Without Delay, KSA Tells Monarchs
A group, the Kwara South Assembly (KSA) has reacted to the outcome of the meeting held recently in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun local government by traditional rulers from Kwara North and Kwara South expressing concern that what took place in the town question can expose the revered traditional institutions to diminished reputation, and loss of respect.
KSA said the public declaration of support for ‘Kwara North’ is wrong because traditional rulers should not get involved in ‘any kind of open partisan politics as shown at the inordinate meeting held in Ajase Ipo’.
The group in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its Coordinator, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal also noted that apart from rejecting its outcome, it was also an unprecedented meeting.
‘The primary concerns of Traditional Rulers across Kwara State at this critical state of the nation should be for them to jointly address the pressing issues affecting our communities, such as insecurity, poverty, and lack of access to basic amenities.
We want to emphasize that this is unprecedented in the political history of Kwara State, from the Bukola Saraki administration to that of His Excellency, Alh. Abdulfatai Ahmed, and now the current governor, His Excellency, Malllam Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq. There has never been a time when traditional rulers gathered to endorse a specific district or any candidate to lead the state and such must be discouraged by all well-meaning kwarans as such a position by our traditional leaders could create malicious division among the people of the senatorial districts and pit them against each other’ the group added.
KSA also said what happened in Ajase-Ipo ‘if not immediately disapproved by every right-thinking citizen, will set a bad precedent and undermine the integrity of the traditional institutions’ .
The group also questioned the motives of those who organized the meeting.
Describing the traditional institutions as ‘a revered and respected part of our culture and heritage’, KSA emphasized the need to protect it from those who are seeking to ‘exploit it for their own selfish political gain’.
That was not all, KSA has also asked the monarchs to withdraw the open declaration of support for ‘Kwara North’ without delay and ‘return to their traditional roles as custodians of our culture and promoters of peace and unity’-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
