Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju Finally Makes It To The Throne As Osun Govt Appoints Him As New Akire Of Ikire
Osun State government on Friday approved the appointment of Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju as the new Akire of Ikire, Irewole local government.
The Ikire throne had become vacant following the demise of Oba Olatunde Falabi, Lambeloye III on February 27, 2026.

‘At the State Executive Council meeting held today in Osogbo, which was presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke, members of the cabinet deliberated on the detailed memo submitted by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and approved the recommendations in line with extant laws and terms of settlement agreed to by the five Ruling Houses.
It is pertinent to mention that the stool of Akire of Ikire generated crisis in the year 2021 sequel to the Supreme Court Judgment of 2014 affirming that Lambeloye Ruling House which had produced Oba Olatunde Falabi had no legal right to occupy the stool of Akire of Ikire as at the time it did when a vacancy occurred in 1987.
The aftermath of the crisis made the Osun State Government in collaboration with all the five (5) Ruling Houses of Ikire to resolve and jointly agree on the amendment of 1958 Akire Chieftaincy Declaration which paved the way for Aketula Ruling House to be the next Ruling House whenever a vacancy occurs’, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, who is the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, submitted in a statement he issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Friday.
With the development recorded on Friday, Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju has finally made it to the throne after a long and anticipated journey.
Recall that Oba Olatunde Falabi, who ascended the throne on May 8, 1993, and celebrated his 90th birthday and 30th coronation anniversary in January last year, had his reign marked by a prolonged legal battle which had Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju of Aketula ruling house faulting the decision to appoint him as Oba Oseni Oyegunle’s successor while also alleging that it was a violation of the 1958 Akire Chieftaincy Declaration.
Oba Oseni Oyegunle had passed away on August 5, 1987, which had made the Ikire throne become vacant.
