Osogbo: Former Court Registrar, APC Bigwig Accused Of Getting Involved In Land Grabbing

Osogbo: Former Court Registrar, APC Bigwig Accused Of Getting Involved In Land Grabbing

A former court registrar, who reportedly refers to himself as a lawyer, has allegedly teamed up with an APC bigwig in Osun State to unleash a reign of terror in the Powerline area of Osogbo, the state capital.

They have been accused of engaging in land grabbing.

They are also alleged to have brazenly undermined valid court judgments by forcefully usurping lands from their rightful owners, thereby creating tension, fear, and uncertainty in the community.

Their actions are said to be in flagrant disobedience of High Court judgments that perpetually restrained land grabbers from trespassing on the vast expanse of land along Ikirun Road, Osogbo, belonging to Madam Sinatu Mistura Busari, who had also secured an execution order to repossess the property amid a series of alleged ambushes and acts of intimidation.

With the renewed assault on people on the parcels of land in question, observers have alleged that the invaders are riding roughshod over various measures put in place by the Osun State Government and the state Police Command to ensure peace and uphold the rule of law on the disputed land.

Recall that Governor Ademola Adeleke had last year directed the police to investigate allegations by trespassers who claimed that the court judgments obtained by Madam Sinatu Mistura Busari are fraudulent. However, police investigation report reportedly affirmed the authenticity of the court rulings in question.

Following the investigation, the Police Command advised the aggrieved parties to obey the subsisting court orders or seek redress at a superior court. The governor had subsequently constituted a judicial panel of enquiry to resolve the lingering dispute and ensure that court orders are not violated with impunity.

Amid fresh allegations that a certain police officer, in connivance with the syndicate ambushed the report of their own investigations on the disputed land, there are fears that the enforcement of court rulings in respect of this land may be compromised.

However, delays in inaugurating the panel are said to have emboldened the alleged attackers.

The former court registrar, allegedly working in connivance with a notorious land grabber, reportedly claimed that he had the consent of the Chief Judge to invade the property.

The former court clerk had also allegedly referred to himself as a lawyer and displayed alleged forged documents at the disputed site while members of the Busari family were being assaulted.

According to information gathered from community sources, the land dispute has been the subject of judicial proceedings spanning several decades, with judgments reportedly delivered in 1982 and 1997 resolving ownership claims against one Mr. Muili, currently the Baale of Alare, who is still said to be among the leading figures laying claim to the land despite the unfavourable court rulings.

Additional allegations have also linked the dispute to the influence of some APC bigwigs.

Residents alleged that individuals that have had their names mentioned in connection with the matter have openly operated with political confidence, including moving around in vehicles emblazoned with APC logo while allegedly boasting that political influence and ‘federal power’ can override valid court judgments-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
