Kwara PDP To Gov Abdulrazaq: Pre-2019 Kwara ‘Peaceful’, Our State Became Bandit Safe Haven On Your Watch
Kwara State PDP has described the recent comments made by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as unfortunate and misleading while adding that he is politically desperate.
The governor, the party noted, had claimed that the PDP left Kwara without any good legacy and it is therefore ‘shameless’ to seek a return to power.
The party in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara however asked the governor to recall that beyond the infrastructural legacies and institutional frameworks established during its 16-year stewardship, the PDP had also handed over a peaceful, stable, and secure Kwara—where citizens, including traditional rulers, could sleep with both eyes closed without fear.
‘Today, our once peaceful Kwara has degenerated into a flashpoint of insecurity and terror. Rural communities that once served as safe havens for travelers and tourists across Northern Nigeria have now become zones of fear, with thousands of residents, including traditional rulers, forced to abandon their homes and become refugees in their own land’ the statement said.
The party noted that the rate of bloodshed and abductions by criminal bandits under the current administration is a betrayal of public trust and should ordinarily provoke ‘shame’ from any responsible leader.
‘Despite receiving unprecedented financial inflows since 2019, the Abdulrazaq-led government has little to show in terms of impactful governance. It is shameful that in 2025 alone, over ₦146 billion came to Kwara as federal allocations, yet, not a single government-owned hospital can boast of a functional MRI scanning machine.
The growing number of out-of-school children as a result of worsening security situation in rural areas which has led to prolonged school closures as well as poor investment in basic education should also be a thing of concern for Governor Abdulrazaq. Rather than consolidating on the gains of PDP era, the current administration in the state has allowed the system to deteriorate further.
Even within the APC in Kwara, Governor Abdulrazaq has failed the fundamental test of leadership. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara is today riddled with internal crises, factional tensions, and a clear vacuum of leadership. It is both irresponsible of a true leader to abandon the state at critical moments, allowing internal political disagreements to escalate into full blown instability’ the statement added
The party also said Kwarans are already expressing deep regret over ‘the ill-fated ‘Otoge’ experiment that brought the current administration in the state to power’-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
