2027: Turaki Faction Chooses Former President Jonathan As PDP Presidential Candidate, Alleges Political Victimization

A PDP faction that has Alhaji Taminu Turaki as its National Chairman has announced former president Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that this decision was taken during the special national convention held at the faction’s national secretariat in Area 10, Garki, Abuja on Saturday.

 Although former president Goodluck Jonathan did not attend the special national convention, the Certificate of Return was however received on his behalf by Hon Fred Agbedi.

In the meanwhile, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki has raised allegations of political victimization while however submitting that those who belong to his faction have unbreakable spirit.

The faction, we learned, had planned to hold the special national convention at the A-Class Event Centre in Wuse 2, but had to seek a safe haven in Garki after security agents sealed off the venue.

‘No matter how highly opinionated they may be about themselves, or no matter how they think that they can use their positions to thwart democracy, we want to tell them that Nigeria is bigger than anybody and any group of persons.

We will not fight. The time of fighting will come when we meet at the polls. We will meet you there, we’ll fight you there, we’ll defeat you there, and then we will pin you down on the ground’ Turaki said.

He also defended his faction’s decision to hold the special national convention citing court rulings

 ‘What we are doing today is in line with the judgment of the Supreme Court, which affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division’ he said.

He added that INEC has been notified of the meeting and expressed confidence that the electoral body will eventually validate the process.
