Kwara: Ladi Hassan’s Media Office Says He’s Not A Betrayal
Former Chief of Staff, Government House, Ilorin, who emerged as governorship candidate of Turaki-led PDP faction in Kwara State last week, Alhaji Ladi Hassan has rejected the label of betrayal while also submitting that there is nothing unusual about the decision to choose his path.
Reacting to the statement issued on Saturday night by former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s media aide, Mr Abdulganiyu Abdulqadr, Alhaji Ladi Hassan’s media office in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com submitted that what the former Chief of Staff has done does not in any away amount to act of betrayal.
Alhaji Ladi Hassan’s media office submitted that the guber candidate did not betray Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki but rather chose to chart his political future.
The statement also said Alhaji Ladi Hassan had not only made financial contributions available to PDP in his ward and local government to help finance their activities and administrative operations but also supported party members.
‘The attention of Kwara State PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Ladi Hassan has been drawn to the statement issued by former Senate President,Dr Bukola Saraki through his media aide, Abdul Ganiyu Abdulkadir in which he launched diatribes against him and also unfairly labelled him.
It is our considered opinion that this is unnecessary, unfair and uncalled for. Alhaji Ladi Hassan did not say anything negative about Dr Bukola Saraki in the prepared text he read out during the press conference that was held in Ilorin on Saturday and when a reporter asked him if the former Senate President is still his political leader, he only clarified that since he belongs to the Turaki faction and Dr Saraki belongs to Wike faction, he is no longer his leader because they now belong to two distinct groups.
On the issue of being labeled a betrayal, is being a mentee considered to be an eternal slavery? Is it an unending loss of personal freedom? Was Dr Saraki not at a point in time a mentee of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is he in the same party with him today? He abandoned the former Vice President in 2006 when he needed his support and he has even contested the PDP primaries against the former Vice President on a number of occasions. Will that make anyone call him a betrayal?
In 2011, late Dr Olusola Saraki was in ACPN while his eldest son, Dr Bukola Saraki was in the PDP, can we call this freedom of choice an act of betrayal?
Alhaji Ladi Hassan started with Dr Saraki when he had never met everyone around him today claiming to love him more than the former Chief of Staff. He was his Personal Assistant when he headed SGBN.
He did not betray him or demand money from the Admiral Mohammed Lawal administration to compromise or sell him out.
Full siblings do belong to different groups not to talk of people who are not related by blood.
Belonging to a political group is not slavery or permanent membership even people do renounce cultism, it is therefore not strange or unusual to choose a new path with ill will to none.
Another important issue to address is the need for the Saraki political group to stop demeaning and degrading people and having the wrong impression that no one can do anything in this life except a certain person provides support.
Alhaji Ladi Hassan was a gubernatorial aspirant in 2019 and 2027 and he spent time, energy and resources in pursuit of his political aspirations.
He was the first aspirant to visit the state Secretariat and interact with the state exco of PDP early last year and such a visit requires what everyone knows.
On numerous occasions he led and funded campaign expenses within his Magaji Ngeri ward and constituency and donated on several occasions in support of the activities of Ilorin West PDP. In addition he has paid rents on a number times for the Magaji Ngeri Office at Gegele Quarters in Ilorin. There are receipts of some of these payments if required. He also empowered several stakeholders and party leaders whenever he had the opportunity to do so.
He was also the most visible in the media last year while he also paid for his expression of interest and Nomination forms before leaving the Wike faction, how sensible is it to now say he has no money to organize a press conference?
It is also unreasonable to say such an event can only be held because they are sure that he enjoys the support of APC .
On the resignation at FCTA in 2019, the then minister gave him the opportunity to return to his position on the condition that he will join the APC which he declined. It is also false to say he left the party in 2019 because that was never on record because you can’t leave a party secretly. He only stayed away from activities for a few months and no elder(s) intervened but only called to witness their truce meeting.
Some among members of the political group also need to be told that Alhaji Ladi Hassan has done everything required to show support for the growth and progress of his former political group including the establishment of Sola Saraki Educational Foundation which is his brainchild’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
