Oyo Teachers, Pupils Who Had Been In Captivity Since May 15 Finally Regain Freedom

Teachers and students at Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School which are located in Esiele and Yawota communities, Oriire Local Government, Oyo State, who had been in captivity since May 15, 2026, have finally regained their freedom.

Recall that 39 pupils and seven teachers, including a principal, were taken away after gunmen attacked the aforementioned schools two months ago.

Sadly, one of the teachers, Joel Adesiyan, was killed while attempting to escape while Mr Michael Oyedokun was also beheaded by the kidnappers.

The surviving victims finally regained their freedom on Friday.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, who announced the good news on social media, also made pictures of the students and teachers available.

‘Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies’ he submitted.

In separate social media post, Mr Onanuga also disclosed that eight people among the kidnappers have been arrested and taken into custody by the Department of State Service (DSS) while clarifying and asserting that no ransom was paid.

 ‘Updated: in the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised.

There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities.
