iIrepodun/Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero PDP Reps Nomination: ‘Zoning’ Not As Important As Having ‘Winnable Candidate’-Ganiyu Adeshina…We Can No Longer Labour in Vain- Tunde Adeyemi
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Harry Ilori 2027 Project has urged Kwara State PDP to prioritize electability and not entitlement in its approach to the selection of Irepodun/Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero Reps candidate.
The group headed by former PDP chairman in Ekiti Local government, Alhaji Ganiyu Raji Adeshina in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com clarified that the growing agitation is not a blanket call to ‘zone’ PDP reps nomination to Ekiti Local Government, but rather a specific case for Dr. Harry Ilori, who he described as a candidate with proven grassroots support and the broad acceptability needed to win.
He recalled that in 2019 and 2023, Ekiti LG allowed Oke-Ero to field the candidate — a concession that did not translate into victory.
‘There is no bad aspirant in this race, but the party must pick the one with the strongest capacity to win’ he submitted while urging the state PDP Chairman, Hon. Issa Adamu Bawa and the party’s National Leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki to consider the aforementioned points.
Hon. Tunde Adeyemi, Secretary of the project and former Supervisory Councilor, Isapa Ward, also said party members — especially youths who have invested time and resources in PDP — cannot afford another campaign built on a candidate without real electoral pull. He described Ilori as an aspirant, who is accessible, experienced, and genuinely connected to the electorate, while arguing that these are the qualities that can convert party structure into actual votes.
The group welcomed the emergence of Engr. Kale Kawu and Rev. Cornelius Olaosebikan Fawenu as PDP governorship ticket, while noting that Ilori’s candidacy will be a part of a broader, winnable slate for the 2027 elections..
They called on Ekiti LG stakeholders, Kwara South Senatorial officers, the State Working Committee and national leadership to prioritize unity, credibility and electability over sectional interest in making this decision.
