2027 Kebbi Guber: Gov Idris Chooses Ibrahim Augie As Running mate To Avoid Getting Involved In Legal Battle

Ahead of the 2027 Kebbi State governorship election, the state governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, who is the APC gubernatorial candidate, has taken proactive measures to avoid getting thrown out of the Government House through court pronouncements even if he eventually wins re-election.

The governor has announced a former Commissioner for Finance, Mr Ibrahim Augie as his running mate

This development showed that the current deputy governor, Umaru Tafida, a former senator, will not retain his position next year.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the decision to have Ibrahim Augie as the deputy governorship candidate was announced at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi during the meeting attended by political and traditional stakeholders from Argungu Emirate on Sunday.

APC National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, who disclosed this at the meeting in question, noted that stakeholders in the party had reviewed the litigation the party faced after the 2023 governorship election and felt it important to play safe.

He noted that the former senator was not dropped because of incompetence but rather because of a possible legal battle.

Recall that after Governor Nasir Idris had gotten declared as winner of the 2023 governorship election, the PDP guber candidate, Aminu Bande had accused Tafida of presenting a forged secondary school testimonial.

He subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking to declare Governor Idris and Tafida’s governorship ticket invalid, the case eventually ended in favour of Idris at the Supreme Court on January 19, 2024.

Sources told Team@orientactualmags.com that the governor is conscious of the fact that things were eased for him because former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami was the one who took charge.

Malami is currently the ADC guber candidate and it will be ease for him to twist the knife because he had the true accounts

Recall that Malami had already joined the 2023 Kebbi State guber race before his former boss, late Muhammadu Buhari told him to withdraw from the race and help him handle things till the end of his presidency.

The former minister had subsequently supported his friend, Dr Nasir Idris, who was the then National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to emerge as the party’s guber candidate.
