2027: Kwara South PDP Announces Moshood Bakare, Obanla, Saheed Popoola As Reps, Senate Consensus Candidates

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Kwara South PDP on Wednesday announced Hon Moshood Bakare, Chief Joseph Obanla and Hon Saheed Popoola as its reps and senate consensus candidates.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that stakeholders from across the 83 wards in Kwara South converged on the party’s state secretariat in Ilorin to deliberate on the zoning and choice of candidates and after extensive deliberations, arguments and counter-arguments, including submissions and recommendations from prominent grassroots politicians across the district, the stakeholders agreed on a ‘zoning arrangement’ that will strengthen the party’s electoral prospects in the 2027 elections.

‘Under the arrangement, the Kwara South Senate nomination was zoned to the Ibolo axis, while the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero  reps nomination was zoned to the Omu-Aran axis. The Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun reps nomination was zoned to the Ifelodun axis.

The meeting subsequently reached consensus on candidates for the three positions and mandated the state Chairman, Hon. Isa Bawa Adamu, to formally announce the names of the candidates on behalf of the State Working Committee and the party leadership.

Announcing the consensus candidates, Hon. Bawa said former member of Kwara State House of Assembly, Prince Saheed Popoola is the consensus candidate for the Kwara South Senatorial District.

For the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, the chairman announced Chief Joseph Gbenga Obanla as the consensus candidate, while Prince Moshood Bakare, a two-term member of Kwara State House of Assembly and Igbaja-born politician, emerged as the consensus candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Hon. Bawa said the consensus arrangement was the outcome of extensive stakeholder consultations and deliberations, stressing the importance of unity and collective responsibility as the party prepares for the 2027 elections’ the statement said.

The statement added that the party will now proceed with arrangements for the rerun primary elections for the three positions noting that the dates, time and other details of the primaries will be announced by the party at the appropriate time-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
