Osun People Love You But Don’t Stigmatize Opponents, President Tinubu Tells Gov Adeleke During Presidential Villa Visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to expand his coast and attach importance to reconciliation and inclusive governance saying that is the only way he can give thanks to residents of the State of the Living Spring.

‘For the reconciliation, expand your coast. That is the only way you can give thanks to our people. Not the way you sang it or celebrated it. It’s the way you act it’ he said.

Team@orientactualmags.com  reports that the president said this during the visit of  the governor to the Presidential Villa , Abuja on Thursday.

Governor Adeleke, who was accompanied by Speaker Adewale Egbedun, Senator Lere Oyewumi;  Rep Bamidele Salam, Chief of Staff, Government House, Osogbo, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, Chief Sunday Bisi and Hon Pelumi Olajengbesi was there to present his Certificate of Return to the president.

Recall that gubernatorial election was held in Osun State on Saturday, August 15, 2026 and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not only declared Governor Ademola Adeleke winner of the election in question but also presented Certificate of Return to him.

President Tinubu on Thursday emphasized that political power is a divine privilege intended for service rather than personal or partisan celebration while reflecting on his own political journey and noting that electoral victories are ultimately determined by divine will.

 ‘God put me here. Where you are today, God put you there. Not the smartness of any of these people. It’s just their support… It’s the wish of God that prevailed and the wish of the people for you and you are in a very, very unique position to make history, promote unity, peace, and stability’ he said.

He urged the governor to utilize his ‘very unique position’ to make history by actively promoting democracy, the rule of law, and regional stability while advising him not to alienate political rivals.

‘Don’t stigmatize any of your opponents’ he added.

Noting that Adeleke is progressive and adding that he has progressive instinct, the governor’s campaign launch and operational execution also earned praise from the president.

‘And you did a very good mobilization with your team. Very good job. You saw fear.

You screamed’ he said.

The president, who had earlier in the week issued a statement to congratulate the governor on his re-election, also noted that the people of Osun State love him.

‘It’s part of your responsibility. And the people of Osun state have pronounced their judgment on you, that they love you. They want you to govern.

So, you’re going back to govern. Anybody, any democrat, anybody in the political environment who cannot celebrate the joy of free and fair election does not deserve the laughter and the happiness of democracy. Don’t make a single individual a victim of your campaign.

Don’t. Not for you alone. Not for the sake of us all alone.

For the generations to come. It’s more important for you to build a network of unity. Like I said, you did not conquer anybody.

You won the election. That is the essence of democracy. I’m so happy that we have this talk’ he added.

The president also strongly defended his administration’s decision to remove fuel subsidy while reacting to the statements made by the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday submitting that he will restore fuel subsidy if elected president next year.

He also made reference to what the situation was during Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s governorship in Osun State saying he was nicknamed as ‘Afusa’.

‘Let’s look at the trajectory of the history. One of my opponents is saying he will go back to subsidy. I read it.

That is demonstration of a serious ignorance about governance and economy. Before I came here, 27 states were unable to pay salaries, not to even talk of pensioners, salary of workers. In your state, I know a man that was nicknamed as ‘half salary’.
