Ebonyi Gov Inaugurates New LG Chairmen, Says Failure To ‘Deliver’ LG In 2027 Elections ‘ll Automatically End Tenure
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State on Tuesday sworn in the new chairmen and Vice chairmen of the 13 local governments in the state in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governor has told the new LG officials to ensure that the APC earns electoral victory in their respective local government in the upcoming 2027 general election or get ready to lose their chairmanship positions.
‘Any chairman who fails to win his council will be removed from office and replaced with a councilor.
I want this information to be in the headlines of newspapers because, as politicians, we will not speak in secret.
The chairmen know we would win in the state and if they choose to sleep and allow others to take their areas, they would be removed’ the governor said.
He urged the new LG chairmen not to allow the opposition to thrive in their areas because ‘charity begins from home’.
The governor also said the vice chairmen should work in harmony with their chairmen and avoid any acts of rivalry while urging them to shun the idea of seeing themselves as ‘spare tyres inside the car trunk’..
‘You should always be available to the chairmen and ask them of your councils’ daily activities.
Do not listen to gossip and ill advice from your friends against your chairmen because that will destroy your relationship with them’ he said.
Governor Nwifuru said his deputy is doing perfectly well and she is not seeing herself as a spare tyre.
‘She performed in ways people saw her as a local government chairman and believed she could do the work of a deputy governor.
