Political Differences Haven’t Erased My Affection For Gov Yusuf-Kwankwaso

Former governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has submitted that the political differences between him and his estranged political godson, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf have not in any way changed his personal affection for him while expressing readiness to reconcile with the governor.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Alhaji  Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is the keader of Kwankwasiyya Movement, said this in an interview with BBC Hausa service in Kano, adding that  he remains open to straightening relationship  with the governor , who is his son-in-law, if he is willing to return to his former political group.

Recall that Governor Abba Yusuf and Kwankwaso were together in the NNPP before the dispersal came, while the governor left for APC , Kwankwaso chose ADC and later NDC where he is currently the vice presidential candidate.

The former Kano State governor said he never abandoned Governor Yusuf or asked him to leave his group noting that political disagreements should not permanently destroy relationships built over many years.

‘I still love Abba and I didn’t reject him; he was the one who left. Not just Abba, if anyone who has left decides to come back, I won’t be unforgiving’ he said.

Alhaji Kwankwaso added that he does not believe leadership should be based on forcing people to conform to one’s personal preferences while submitting that politicians must learn to accommodate differences in opinions and allow people to make their own choices.

‘As a leader, you need to have an open heart. You cannot force people to think the way you do because we all come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives’ he said.

The former governor and a one-time Minister for Defence, cited his political disagreements with former governor Umar Ganduje and what happened a few years later

‘Look at Ganduje; over many years we fell out several times and got back together. That is how politics works’ he added.
