Stop Tempting INEC Officials, Cleric Cautions Politicians At Prayer Service Held To Mark Ladi Hassan’s 66th Birthday In Ilorin
Ahead of the 2027 general election, an Ilorin-based Islamic cleric, Alhaji Obalowu Katibi has reminded Nigerians that the ultimate power to reshape the country’s leadership rests entirely in their hands.
Alhaji Obalowu Katibi, who is the Imam of Oke-Kura, Ilorin, said this during the prayer service held to mark the 66th birthday of Alhaji Ladi Hassan in the Oke Kura area of Ilorin on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Team@orientactualmags.com reports that the event was organized by loyalists and supporters of Alhaji Ladi Hassan, a former Chief of Staff, Government House, Ilorin, who is the PDP gubernatorial candidate of the Turaki faction in Kwara State.
Imam Katibi emphasized that the four-year election cycle provides citizens with a golden opportunity to make the right choices asserting that the public loses the moral right to complain about bad governance if they refuse to elect the right leaders.
To guarantee the dividends of democracy, the cleric urged the electorate to completely prioritize competence and capability over political sentiments.
Addressing the electoral ecosystem, Katibi likened the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to a panel of judges urging the electoral body to fear God, uphold absolute neutrality, and resist the temptation of bias and corruption.
He further cautioned politicians to stop compromising the integrity of electoral officers and the judicial figures.
‘Do not tempt our judges and INEC officials. Instead, encourage them to live above board, remembering that a day of divine recompense awaits where God will judge everyone based on their actions and intentions’ Alhaji Obalowu Katibi added.
The cleric concluded by stressing the critical need for a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process, demanding that all political actors strictly play by the rules.
The event was attended by dignitaries including a former member of Kwara State house of assembly, Hon Razaq Ibrahim, Alhaji Isiaka Hassan Alanamu, Barrister Aminu Owolabi, an official of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Abdulahi Aremu, a party stalwart, Alhaji Baba Bello Baba Ago among others.
The Director-General of his campaign organization, Hon. Abdulrazaq Ibrahim, told Team@orientactualmags.com that although Alhaji Ladi Hassan is currently in Abuja and will return next week, his supporters and loyalists still considered it important to organize a prayer session marking his birthday to appreciate his commitment to serving humanity.
