Building Future Leaders: 200 Teens To Benefit From Rep Bamidele Salam’s Leadership Bootcamp In Osun
Over 200 teenagers in Ede North/ Ede South/ Egbedore/ Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Osun State are set to participate in a five-day leadership and capacity-building bootcamp beginning this Monday.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday noted that the intensive programme scheduled to run from September 28 to October 2, 2026, is organized by representative of the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep Bamidele Salam under the auspices of the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative (CALDEV) and BSE4, in partnership with FirstBank plc.
The bootcamp which will have as its theme ‘Empowering the Next Generation of Responsible, Tech-Savvy, and Impact-Driven Leaders’ aims to equip young people between the ages of 13 and 19 with the essential knowledge, skills, and values required for responsible citizenship and community development.
According to the organizers, the curriculum is designed to expose participants to practical leadership modules, financial literacy, technology, critical thinking, problem-solving, public speaking, teamwork, and integrity.
Rep Bamidele Salam, who is also the founder of CALDEV, said investing in the youth remains vital to building a responsible and productive society while emphasizing that leadership development must begin long before young people assume formal roles of authority.
‘The bootcamp was conceived to create an environment where teenagers could develop confidence, discover their potential, learn from one another, and begin to understand their responsibilities to their families, schools, and communities’ he said.
The federal lawmaker added that the programme will deliberately combine classroom learning with practical, real-world exercises while a major component of the training will focus on artificial intelligence, alongside interactive team-building sessions, public speaking workshops, and inter-local government exercises designed to test and apply the skills learned.
‘A major component of the programme is the focus on artificial intelligence, alongside critical-thinking and problem-solving exercises, teamwork, public-speaking sessions, leadership activities and an inter-local government quiz competition’ he said.
The organisers said this approach will help the participants to understand that leadership goes beyond occupying positions of authority, and realize that responsible leadership involves integrity, service, accountability, empathy and the capacity to solve problems.
The statement added that the participants will be drawn from schools, Islamic and Christian organisations, persons with disabilities, and other groups across the four local governments in the federal constituency, ensuring diversity and inclusiveness in the composition of the bootcamp.
The five-day programme will culminate in a variety night on October 1 featuring the inter-local government quiz competition, talent presentations and presentations of solutions developed during the community problem-solving challenge.
Participants, who will receive certificates of participation at the conclusion of the programme, are expected to depart on October 2.
Rep. Salam expressed appreciation to FirstBank plc for partnering with CALDEV and BSE4, describing the collaboration as an important contribution towards youth development and investment in the next generation.
He said the bootcamp reflects his commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for young people in his constituency, particularly programmes that combine education, technology, leadership and responsible citizenship.
