Passengers Rescue Pilot After Co-pilot Stabs Him In Attempt To Crash Plane
A flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv, Israel, narrowly averted catastrophe on Wednesday after a co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the aircraft, forcing quick-thinking passengers and crew to rush to the cockpit and rescue the plane.
The mid-air terror aboard Flight FZ1073 from Dubai began when the co-pilot attacked the pilot, sending the Boeing jet into a terrifying nosedive that plunged nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that as the aircraft plummeted, passengers and cabin crew forced their way into the cockpit and they overpowered the co-pilot said to be an Omani national and a second pair of off-duty flydubai pilots who were traveling aboard the flight took over and safely diverted the aircraft to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
The co-pilot in question has been taken into custody in Saudi Arabia while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called it ‘a serious security incident’ and expressed gratitude for the cross-border cooperation.
There has been no immediate comment from the government of Oman and the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
Israel’s national ambulance service reported that the 51-year-old man, who was attacked by the co-pilot, was transported to a local hospital upon arrival in Israel and he is being treated for upper-body stab wounds.
Flydubai said the underlying causes of the incident are under investigation and cautioned the public against ‘premature speculation’ whilst the joint international inquiry gets underway-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
