NCC Grants Unified Access Service License To Swift Telephone Network

NCC Grants Unified Access Service License To Swift Telephone Network

The Swift Telephone Network limited (STN), which is a homegrown telecommunications company, has officially entered Nigeria’s mainstream telecom market after securing a Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the regulatory milestone marks a major evolution for the STN, a company that originally started as a small-scale telephone call service operating under a basic umbrella structure.

With the new UASL, STN will be transforming into an independent operator authorized to provide a full suite of nationwide services, including voice, data and network access while building next-generation digital infrastructure.

‘This UASL is not just a licence; it is a new chapter. It represents where we started, what we have endured, how we have evolved, and where we are going. We are building in Nigeria for Nigeria’ the statement quoted Mr Oluwole Adetuyi, the Chief Executive Officer of STN as saying.

STN’s expansion comes at a critical time for the country’s digital economy. According to Adetuyi, the company’s trajectory proves that local enterprises can withstand economic shifts, adapt to evolving regulations, and scale into world-class institutions.

As part of its entry into the broader ecosystem, STN has expressed commitment to building a truly Nigerian telecommunications ecosystem.

‘Some of the key pillars of the telecom firm include, investment in skills development and training for Nigerian engineers, technicians and digital professionals; Prioritizing partnerships with Nigerian service providers, contractors and vendors across the value chain as well as collaborations with global technology partners to deepen indigenous technical capabilities’ the statement said..

The company added that other key areas include infrastructure development while disclosing plans to roll-out telecommunications infrastructure that will expand access and bridge the digital divide and also create direct employment and opportunities for Nigerian entrepreneurs in distribution, retail and support services.

This, the STN noted, will also increase Nigerian ownership and leadership in the telecoms value chain.

‘Our ambition is simple: to help build Nigeria’s digital economy from the ground up.

This licence gives us the platform. Nigerian talent, Nigerian partners, and Nigerian innovation will give us the momentum’ Awotuyi said.

STN also noted that it will in the coming weeks announce strategic partnerships, infrastructure rollout plans, and programmes to engage investors and stakeholders as it begins commercial operations under the UASL.
