Events At Kursi Abuja Office, Ilorin Govt House Return Attention To Saraki-Abdulrazaq Rivalry

Events At Kursi Abuja Office, Ilorin Govt House Return Attention To Saraki-Abdulrazaq Rivalry

Developments in Abuja, the nation’s capital, and Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, have returned attention to the Saraki-Abdulrazaq rivalry.

Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s visit to the head office of Kursi Group at No 12, Agadez Crescent, Wuse 11, Abuja became a topical issue on social media on Friday.

The high-profile visit has propelled the widening political rift between Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and CEO of  Kursi Group, Alhaji Abdulfatahi Yahaya Seriki back into the spotlight.

The relationship between Governor Abdulrazaq and Seriki has been volatile for close to a decade now.

After parting ways with Saraki’s political camp to join others in championing the Otoge movement, Seriki also withdrew from the gubernatorial race to support Abdulrazaq’s candidacy in 2018.

The relationship between the governor and the CEO of Kurisi Group became frosty following the outcome of the APC guber primary held in May this year, This followed an earlier fallout where Seriki’s bid for the Kwara Central APC senate nomination was thwarted in favour of Senator Salihu Mustapha.

Ahead of the 2026 APC guber primary, Abdulrazaq had initially endorsed Seriki, he however abruptly pivoted to back Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi and in reaction to this, the top businessman, who is popularly called ‘Amber’, joined the opposition ‘G-15 faction’ within the state chapter of the ruling party.

The outgoing week was filled with tense moments in the state APC. Tensions reached a boiling point on Tuesday following the abrupt cancellation of the Kwara State City Boy Movement inauguration.

Alhaji Yahaya Seriki is the North Central Coordinator while the governor’s younger brother, Alhaji Baba Razaq is the state coordinator. The well-publicized event was called off just hours before kickoff, a move widely attributed to the governor’s direct intervention.

Saraki’s Friday visit to the head office of Kursi Group is being widely interpreted as a strategic solidarity move, signaling a potential realignment and a new chapter in Kwara State’s shifting political landscape.

The former Senate President was accompanied by associates including former Speaker Razak Atunwa.

In the meanwhile, the management of Kursi Group has in a Facebook post thanked Dr Saraki for visiting the company’s head office noting that the visit provided ‘an opportunity for meaningful engagement, shared perspectives, and conversations around leadership, enterprise, investment, and the role of Nigerian businesses in driving sustainable economic growth’.

‘A Distinguished Visit to Kursi Group

Kursi Group was honoured to welcome His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON Abbakar Bkola Saraki former President of the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on a distinguished visit to our organization.

The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement, shared perspectives, and conversations around leadership, enterprise, investment, and the role of Nigerian businesses in driving sustainable economic growth.

At Kursi Group, we remain committed to building enduring value across industries and contributing to the development of opportunities that create lasting impact for people, communities, and the nation.

We sincerely appreciate His Excellency for the visit and the time spent with the Kursi Group team.

Kursi Group; Building Enduring Value Across Industries’ the company submitted.

Dr Saraki has also talked about the visit in an X.com post calling Kursi Group ‘fastest growing mining company’.

He also called Alhaji Abdulfatahi Yahaya Seriki ‘a forward-looking, creative, and solid industrialist’.

‘After the jummah prayer, I spent a good part of today with Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki at the corporate headquarters of his company, the Kursi Group, the fastest growing mining company in the country based in Abuja.

It is always a delight to see one of our own from Kwara State doing well, and doing so on an international scale. What he has built through the Kursi Group goes well beyond mining, buying and selling minerals.

It is a big industry. He is processing and adding value to our mineral resources here at home. Instead of exporting the minerals raw, he is producing finished products, creating jobs and keeping more of the value within our communities.

Nigeria sure needs many more forward-looking, creative, and solid industrialists like him. I wish him continued success in all his endeavours’ he wrote.

It was an exchange of actions and a case of ‘do me, I do you’ although it may be coincidental.

Back home in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq welcomed Saraki’s estranged associate, Dr Musa Audu Idowu at the Government House with open arms apparently in preparation for his eventual defection to APC.

Dr. Musa Audu, who unexpectedly resigned from the PDP and cut ties with the Saraki political dynasty last week, was accompanied to the Government House by the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi alongside influential Ekiti Local Government APC stakeholders, including a member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Ganiyu Abolarin and Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal.

For years, Dr. Idowu served as a core pillar of the Saraki political network. He previously acted as a major financial backer for the Olusola Saraki Educational Foundation before being appointed to head the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation.

The high-profile Government House meeting is widely viewed by political analysts as a strategic alignment ahead of Dr. Idowu’s formal defection to the ruling APC-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
