Enugu: Man Confesses To Killing, Dismembering 27-Year-Old Girlfriend After HIV Accusation
Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel, who was arrested and taken into custody by the police in Enugu State last month, has continued to make shocking confessions.
The 30-year-old man has confessed to killing and dismembering his 27-year-old girlfriend, Chinyere Rosemary Ugwu.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Okpara, who made the shocking confessions in a video released on social media by the state police command through its spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe on Friday, said the incident occurred around midnight on September 19, 2026.
Chinyere Rosemary Ugwu, who studied Medical Laboratory Science at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, and had recently participated in the National Youth Service Corps programme (NYSC), had accused her boyfriend of infecting her with HIV.
Emmanuel had told Ugwu that he can cure people living with hepatitis C, HIV and syphilis and the deceased young woman had accused him of infecting her with HIV, leading to an argument and physical confrontation.
‘She held the pestle and started hitting me but I had to withdraw it from her. I hit her which caused her to collapse. I chopped off the wrist. I had to just close up the toilets and close the master’s bedroom and locked it up’ he said.
Emmanuel said he wrapped Ugwu’s body in a black nylon bag and moved it to the toilet, where it remained until neighbours broke into the house after perceiving an offensive odour.
‘I was weeping, broken-hearted’ he said while adding that he damaged Ugwu’s Samsung phone because he feared it could be used to trace him.
‘I had this fear that people could trace the phone’ he said.
Emmanuel also said Ugwu’s iPhone had already been switched off before the incident after she complained that it was faulty.
The young chap, who disclosed that he met Ugwu on Facebook in 2023 and resumed their relationship after she returned to Enugu in 2026, added that he had planned to marry her and had spoken with her mother before the incident.
‘This thing is not actually what I did clearly or intentionally. I wasn’t fully aware of myself first.
I’ve been praying to God for forgiveness and, like, for the fact that this wasn’t actually clearly pure intentional act from my angle, and I’ve been pleading for the government to temper justice with mercy’ he said.
The police said parents of the deceased woman and her siblings have been contacted while noting that the state police Commissioner has directed that investigations should be concluded so that charges can be preferred against Emmanuuel.
