Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Saturday declared that Mrs. Mary Aderonke Oyebode remains the Iyaloja General of the state, derecognizing any other individual claiming the title.

The clarification follows social media reports alleging that the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, had recognized Alhaja Awawu Asindemade as the Iyaloja General.
Recall that Alhaja Asindemade was originally appointed to the role by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who served as governor of the state between 2010 and 2018, and she had served in that capacity until Governor Adeleke removed her from office in May 2023.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Saturday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor reaffirmed Mrs. Oyebode as the legally recognized market leader.
The governor emphasized that only the state government holds the legal authority to appoint the Iyaloja General.
‘Any announcement from any other quarter, including the Osogbo Royal Palace, is null and void. Mrs. Oyebode remains the legally appointed Iyaloja General under the authority of the state government’ Governor Adeleke said.
He urged market associations and women across Osun State to ignore any counter-appointments adding that Mrs. Oyebode continues to enjoy the full support of the state government.
The governor warned institutions and individuals to respect the rule of law, advising them to desist from actions capable of disturbing the peace of the state-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
