In its continued bid to foster self-reliance, drive economic growth, and create sustainable employment opportunities, the Kwara State Government has presented cheques totaling ₦89.2 million to 12 young entrepreneurs in the state.

The initiative was put into effect through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) under its Youth Entrepreneurial Empowerment Scheme. The funding aims to support promising startups and scale up viable business ideas within the state’s vibrant youth demographic.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Bolashade Yusuf, Press Secretary,, Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) noted that the General Manager, Dr. Wasiu Tejidini, officially presented the cheques to the beneficiaries in Ilorin on Monday emphasizing that the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration remains deeply committed to empowering new starters who possess innovative and sustainable business models.

He added that the lucky 12 beneficiaries secured their respective grants following a meticulous vetting process noting that Governor AbdulRazaq personally reviewed and approved their formal letters of request alongside the comprehensive details of their business proposals.

The business grants which ranged from ₦3.3 million to ₦15.9 million are tailored to the specific needs and scaling capacities of the selected businesses.

To ensure strict accountability, KWASSIP’s specialized monitoring and evaluation unit will according to him conduct rigorous impact assessments of the businesses in six-month and one-year intervals.

Dr. Tejidini also noted that this latest intervention builds upon the Abdulrazaq administration’s robust track record of youth empowerment adding that the state government had previously supported more than 1,000 young individuals through its flagship Kwapreneur programme, reinforcing Kwara’s status as a hub for emerging enterprise.

He described the latest intervention by the state government as a broader strategy to encourage entrepreneurship and reduce dependence on government employment while commending the governor’s support for entrepreneurship skill and noting that his administration has continued to invest in infrastructural development, healthcare, security, and education among other sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ajiboye Opeyemi Rasheed and Mohammed Nimotallah Kpayero, appreciated the government for the financial assistance, describing it as an opportunity to expand their businesses and create jobs.

They added that the support will help them acquire more equipment and improve their production capacity by employing more young people to become economically independent.

‘We really thank the government. This is an opportunity for us to create jobs for people out there, including fresh graduates. They can easily learn (from us) and get the right business skills to become self-sufficient’ Ajiboye said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
