Former members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , on Monday urged support for the re- election bid of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The former state lawmakers not only declared support for his candidacy but also asserted and declared that, ‘the best course of action to take is to ensure the governor’s re- election in 2023’.
Those who had served as members of the state House of Assembly since the first legislative session are members of the forum.
The former lawmakers declared that the three and a half years of the Abdulrazaq administration has witnessed even distribution of resources through execution of projects across the 24 constituencies of the state.
Presiding over a press conference in Ilorin on Monday which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com , spokesman for the forum, Hon Benjamin Oyeyemi, said the last two budgets presented by the governor with capital expenditure getting lion shares will serve as catalyst for a visible business environment and rural and urban development of the state.
‘The last two budget presentations were in favour of capital expenditures in spite of sharp increase in salary and wages of public servants and cost of governance in the state.
The forum notes that the recently presented 2023 budget proposals in which capital expenditures took lion share of 50.9% of the total budget estimates, is quite in order, laudable and a welcome development.
The forum notes with satisfaction the laudable achievements of Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his three and a half years as Governor of Kwara State and the uncommon way he had operated, which has brought physical developments and democratic dividends, right to the door steps of the people that voted him into office. His actions and mode of operation have been in such an unprecedented way and manner that have endeared him largely to the people of Kwara State’ Oyeyemi stated.
He listed some of the projects to include rehabilitation of Ilesha Baruba and Gwanara township roads, Jebba water works, Tanke/UNILORIN road fly -over project and the construction of Osi-Obbo – Aiyeguble road in Ekiti local government.
‘As former members of Kwara state House of Assembly after an in-depth thorough, honest and selfless assessment of the three and a half years of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration have no alternative than to give our full , unalloyed and unreserved support for his second term as governor of our beloved state.
Furthermore, we hereby urge the patriotic people of Kwara state to support him to win the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election . This would not only enable him to optimally realize his vision and mission for a progressive and developed Kwara state but would also guarantee the realization of his patriotic and dedicated ambition to leave Kwara state, much better than he met it in 2019’ he added .
Describing AbdulRazaq as a leader with a difference, Oyeyemi also hailed his decision to complete the two projects initiated by his predecessors.
‘Governor AbdulRazaq, as a true leader ensured the completion of a hostel project at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. This project was initiated by the late Governor Mohammed Lawal, who governed the state between 1999 and 2003. The governor also completed the new state secretariat project initiated by the immediate past Abdulfatah Ahmed administration .
The governor’s decision in this regard is a rare occurrence and a total departure from the former practice that will have incumbent governors abandoning the projects initiated by their predecessors’ Oyeyemi added- Team@orientactualmags.com
