Akara Sellers To Receive 1,780 Bags Of Beans As Gov Mai Buni Activates ‘Akara Business Spirit’ In Yobe
Yobe State Government will soon make N460.83 million available as ‘financial support’ to akara sellers and other female small business owners in the state.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that this was part of the resolutions reached during the State Executive Council meeting that was presided over by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House, Damaturu on Thursday.
The state government says 1,780 bags of beans will be distributed to akara sellers in the state.
Talking to journalists on Thursday, Yobe State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, said the state government has taken the decision to support women who engage in small-scale businesses through the provision of essential items in order to enhance their livelihoods.
The step taken by Yobe State Government has simply gotten the ‘akara business spirit’ activated in the state.
Recall that the First Lady, Mrs Remi Tinubu had while talking to journalists after meeting with the wives of state governors at the State House, Abuja on June 25, 2026, submitted that low-income Nigerians can start small businesses like selling akara (bean cakes), roasted corn, and kuli-kuli because they require very little capital and this had sparked intense debate about the current economic hardship in the country.
‘The State Executive Council has approved the sum of N460,828,450.00 for the procurement of beans for distribution to female small business owners as empowerment support.
These will be distributed along with cooking oil, smokeless stoves, cooking utensils and kitchenware, which have already been procured and stored by the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.
A total of 1,780 50kg bags of beans will be distributed to the beneficiaries’ Bego submitted on Thursday..
He noted that the empowerment initiative is part of the Buni administration’s efforts to improve the living conditions of women and strengthen small-scale businesses in the state.
‘Under the Ministry of Wealth Creation, the council has approved the sum of N364,475,000.00 for the procurement of 1,000 Yamaha GX 390 grinding machines for empowerment support to people across the state’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
