Drama As Osun Lawmaker Zigzags On Defection
A member of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Adesina Atanda Rabiu, who represents Iwo State constituency, enjoyed a great deal of media attention on Monday.
Hon Adesina Atanda Rabiu zigzagged in respect of his political party and this had made him be in the spotlight.
Although, Governor Ademola Adeleke had on November 4, 2025, announced his decision to leave PDP and later chose Accord as his new party, the 25 PDP state lawmakers however waited until February 2026 before joining the new ruling party.
Hon Adesina Atanda Rabiu made news on Monday after it was reported that he had taken a decision to make his membership of Accord Party have a short existence.
‘I hereby tender my resignation from the Accord Party, effective immediately. This decision is personal, and I’d like to keep the reasons to myself’ the state lawmaker had submitted in the letter sent to Speaker Adewale Egbedun.
Political pundits have however questioned the appropriateness of such an action cognizant that party leaders at the Ward level ought to be the recipients of such a letter. That of the head of parliament can be done at the ‘secondary stage’ of the process.
It was however clear that his action was aimed at seeking attention and an opportunity to table his grievances.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Hon. Adesina Atanda Rabiu has not only backtracked but also pledged continue loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke.
After a closed-door meeting with Speaker Adewale Egbedun and the governor’s spokesperson, Mr Olawale Rasheed, who is his kinsman, Hon Rabiu announced the withdrawal of the resignation letter and declared his continued support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
‘I have withdrawn the letter of resignation that I earlier wrote and I want to state that I am still a member of the Accord Party and in full support of Governor Ademola Adeleke and I am ready to work for his re-election’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
