El-Rufai To Remain In Custody As Judge Adjourns Bail Hearing Until June
Former FCT minister, Mallam Nasir El-rufai failed to know when he will regain his freedom on Tuesday as Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court adjourned his bail hearing to the first week of June.
This development shows that he will be celebrating the upcoming Eid al-Adha behind bars.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that El-rufai, who served as governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023, was brought to the court by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday.
Counsel for the former governor, Barrister Ukpon Akpan condemned the repeated adjournments after the court session ended while alleging that the judge’s decision was politically motivated.
Recall that Justice Khobo had on April 14 adjourned until April 21 for ruling on the bail application.
The former governor is also facing charges apart from that of the state High Court. He has an ongoing case at the Federal High Court, Kaduna but was however granted bail by Justice Rilwanu Aikawa.
El-Rufai was taken into custody by the ICPC on February 19, 2026, following his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
