Exclusive! ICPC Sacks Staff Who Allowed David Mark, Aregbesola, Amaechi, Aichatou To Visit El-Rufai ‘Without Authorization’
Mr Daniel Stephen, who was a level-7 official and an Anti-corruption Assistant, has been sacked by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Sources said Stephen, who was detained for close to 15 days before facing a disciplinary hearing may also face prosecution citing admission of guilt made by him.
The young ICPC official was accused of allowing prominent Nigerians and a woman that had been declared persona non grata to visit Mallam Nasir El-rufai in custody without authorization.
Recall that Mallam Nasir El-rufai, a former FCT Minister, who is facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial misconduct, money laundering, and abuse of office during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State between 2015 and 2023, was taken into custody by ICPC on February 18, 2026.
He later had charges preferred against him by ICPC and was first taken to court on March 24, 2026.

Sources told Team@orientactualmags.com that although, Aichatou Asabe El-Rufai is ordinarily one of the people that ought to be allowed to visit the former governor, she was however accused of flouting custody visit norms and consequently got categorized as an ‘unwelcome person’.
‘She may be given 15 minutes or 30 minutes to speak with her husband but will end up spending two hours there. She will also break established rules without caution, and she speaks aggressively and had also granted high-profile interviews and press appearances regarding her husband’s detention. To avoid problems, there was an instruction that while other members of the El-rufai family may be allowed to visit the former governor, Aichatou Asabe should be disallowed from enjoying such a privilege’ she said.
It was reliably gathered that Stephen Daniel smuggled Aichatou into the premises and made her have an audience with Mallam Nasir El-rufai on July 5, 2026.
That was not all, in what many will call a daring venture, sources said Daniel also created an opportunity for ADC National Chairman, Chief David Mark, the National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Mr Rotimi Amaechi to visit ICPC’s ‘important guest’ without authorization despite the fact that the place is under heavy CCTV surveillance.

‘You see, there is a place where it will be made clear that ‘unauthorized personnel are not admitted beyond this point’ but he had it well planned out. He actually showed bravery and fearlessness.
Using a car with tinted glass, the three prominent Nigerians sat in the back seat of the car and because he is a jolly good fellow, his colleagues demonstrated camaraderie and did not bother to confirm if he was alone or not and therefore did not see the back-seat occupants of the car.
He will turn off the lights in the area before the ‘special visors’ are allowed to alight from the car and taken to the section where the former minister is kept’ said a source.
While it could not be confirmed yet if the anti-corruption agency has infrared night vision technology or not , many still found it intriguing how Daniel Stephen managed to take his ‘special visitors’ to the section of the building where Mallam Nasir El-rufai is being kept.
Some are asking if Daniel had broken the rules for monetary gain submitting that it was not worth the stress and the risk while some are seeing him in the mould of the four young Nigerian teenagers that hijacked Nigeria Airways Flight 470 on October 25, 1993.
‘CCTV covers up to the door of the room where the former governor is being kept and it effectively monitors the entry point while balancing security and privacy need. The CCTV can also pick up and record sound. We don’t know how he does it or possibly he had accomplices’ the source added.
It was gathered that the management under Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu’s leadership had since revoked staff privileges and they are now made to get subjected to what visitors face including vehicle searches.
Mallam Nasir El-rufai, an ADC bigwig, has spent 200 days in detention and there has been protests and condemnation.
Family members, supporters, youth groups, and his loyalists including Senator Lawal Adamu Usman have staged rallies and protests in Abuja and Kaduna.
A political pundit, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Chief David Mark, Amaechi and Aregbesola taking a risk to visit El-rufai in custody is commendable.
‘They joined an ICPC official for an unauthorized visit. Where was the take-off point? What if the man in question had seen it as an opportunity to kidnap them and collect ransom? What if he had sold them out to government? They really took a great risk’ the source said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
