Kwara: Babanla Stakeholders Welcome Return of Peace, Approve New Development Action Plan

Stakeholders in Babanla, Ifelodun local government, Kwara State and members of the Transition National Executive of the Babanla Community Development Association (BCDA) held an important meeting at the residence of Asiwaju of Babanla, Alhaji S.A. Ibrahim on Saturday during which they expressed commitment to accelerating key developmental projects sequel to successful return of peace to the ancient town.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Mallam Lookman Yusuf noted that the high-profile meeting was attended by the community’s traditional, religious, and administrative leaders led by Oba of Babanla, His Royal Highness, Oba Aliyu A. Yusuf Arojojoye II. Also present were prominent chiefs including Odofin of Babanla, Chief Abdulrazak Abdul Salam, Balogun of Babanla, Chief Nurudeen Balogun, Afariogun of Babanla, Chief Reuben Yusuf, Oluponna of Babanla, Chief AbdulWaheed Oyebanji and the Chief Imam of Babanla, Sheikh Sharafadeen AbdulRaheem.

The BCDA Transition Executive Committee was also fully represented by its Chairman, Dr. Jamiyu Omotayo Anigilaje, Vice Chairman Mallam Hamzat Mohammed Awal, the Secretary, Dr. (Rev.) Isaac Adesina Abolarin and other members of the committee.

The stakeholders reviewed critical issues surrounding peace, security, and general development over the past year and in a major milestone for the community, leaders at the meeting expressed immense satisfaction with the general restoration of peace and security.

They noted with happiness that many residents who had fled the town during the peak of the recent crisis have now safely returned and fully resumed their lawful businesses, signaling a strong economic and social recovery for Babanla.

The stakeholders and leaders extended their gratitude to the security agents deployed to the town, commending their professionalism and proactive strategies in safeguarding lives and property.

In recognition of their impactful leadership, the stakeholders passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the Transition Executive Committee specially praising the Chairman and committee members for their swift achievements since their recent inauguration.

Furthermore, the meeting gave an overwhelming approval to the committee’s new plan of action and the executive was urged to work with urgency and show deep commitment to executing immediate community interventions while listing key priority projects slated for rapid deployment to include: installation of solar water pumps, reticulation of water pipes to designated areas, direct financial assistance to support local youth activities and increased funding and logistical support for community vigilante groups to sustain current security gains.

They appealed to all the stakeholders and residents to maintain unwavering support for the executive committee as they drive Babanla into a new era of infrastructure development and sustained harmony.

The Babanla stakeholders also commended His Royal Highness, Oba Aliyu A. Yusuf Arojojoye II and members of the Oba of Babanla-In-Council for their resilience during this past one year.

They commended the Prince and Princess Forum for their role in bringing stability to the town, the youth forum for their patriotism, focus and dedication to Babanla project; and the Patriotic Forum for being in the vanguard of execution of Babanla project.

Oba Aliyu A. Yusuf thanked individuals, groups and friends of Babanla, who have shown genuine concerns for ‘our plight’ and supported us in one way other following recent sad incidents while urging all his subjects to refrain from utterances and false information that can stain the image of the community.

Thanking those who have spared time to attend the meeting, the monarch also assured those who were unable to attend that the National Transition Committee will convene another meeting of all branches in due course.
