Kwara South APC Senate Primary: Party Members Oppose Senator Ashiru’s 3rd Term Bid As Nurudeen Adeyemi Wins In Core Areas

Members of the ruling APC in Kwara State have declared opposition against alleged moves by the leaders of the party at the national level to force the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator  Lola Ashiru on the party and make him secure party nomination ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kwara South APC Opinion Leaders said this on Sunday through a former chairman of Ifelodun local government, Engineer Uthman Alabi.

They submitted that their opposition against the senator’s third term bid is aimed at protecting internal democracy and ensuring a fair and transparent primary process.

‘Today, we speak as a committed APC group in Kwara South. We are united by one common objective to ensure that the ongoing primary elections in our state are conducted in a free, fair, transparent, credible, and democratic in a manner that will strengthen our party ahead of the forthcoming general election’ he said.

 ‘What APC needs ahead of the next general elections is a candidate with proven antecedents, grassroots acceptance, loved and trusted by the people, and whose popularity can naturally translate into victory at the polls’ Alabi added.

In the meanwhile, Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun , an aerospace engineer, won in the core areas of Kwara South in the APC senate primary held on Monday.

The technocrat turned politician has also thanked party faithful for their support.

Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com expressed profound appreciation to the good people of Kwara South Senatorial District for their overwhelming show of love, support, and confidence during the Monday’s APC Senate Primary.

He specially commended party faithful, stakeholders, youths, women groups, elders, and supporters across the seven Local Government Areas and the 83 wards in the district for trooping out en masse to participate peacefully and enthusiastically in the democratic process.

According to him, the massive support and acceptance recorded across the district is a clear reflection of the unity, strength, and collective desire of the people for purposeful representation, inclusive leadership, and sustainable development for Kwara South.

He noted that the overwhelming goodwill shown towards his political aspirations remains deeply humbling and inspiring, while reaffirming his commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress and the continued progress of the senatorial district.
