LG Chairman Resigns In Sokoto, Quits APC
Chairman of Tangaza Local Government, Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Kalanjeni, has resigned from his position.
That was not all, he has also ended his membership of the ruling APC.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Kalanjeni in two separate letters sent to APC Ward Chairman and Secretary to the Sokoto State Government and the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, noted that his decision to resign as LG Chairman and leave APC is with immediate effect.
In the first letter, dated May 5, 2026, and sent to APC Ward Chairman in Kalanjeni Ward, Tangaza Local Government, the former LG chairman cited personal reasons.
‘I wish to formally inform you of my decision to resign from the APC with immediate effect.
This decision is born out of purely personal reasons. I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be part of the party’ he submitted.
In separate letter dated July 7, 2026, which was sent to the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kalanjeni also informed them of his decision to resign as Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government.
‘Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am resigning from my position as Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, effective immediately from today.
This difficult decision has been reached after extensive consultations with my family, key political associates and community stakeholders.
Due to recent unavoidable administrative challenges, I find that I am no longer able to execute the responsibilities of this office to the high standard expected of me.
I am incredibly grateful to the electorate, the council’s legislative arm and the entire staff for the privilege and opportunity to serve our people.
