Oyo, Kwara Motorists Express Significant Frustration As Moro Bridge Collapses

Moro Bridge which is located on Ilorin–Igbeti road, precisely between Oko-Olowo/Mandala in Ilorin West and Asa Local Governments, Kwara State collapsed on Thursday and this has caused significant disruptions to public transit,.

Some motorists are currently using Baala Road as an alternate route.

The bridge in question connects Kwara and Oyo states and motorists in the states in question have  expressed frustration while calling on relevant agencies to provide succour for the people by fixing it without delay.

Vehicular movement has been severely disrupted and many have expressed fear that this may cause food shortage and a drop in business activities.

Being a critical infrastructure that makes the movement of people and goods from one location to another easy, motorists have faced difficult times since the bridge caved in on Thursday.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Kwara State government reacted to the incident through a statement issued by the Ministry of Works on Thursday.

The ministry in the statement signed by Olajide Moyo Abolarin noted that the bridge ‘collapsed overnight under the weight of a heavy-duty truck’.

The statement noted that the state government has in collaboration with the federal government began work on an alternate route to ease vehicular traffic along the corridor while urging motorists to drive with care.

‘State traffic managers are to work with transport unions and commuters to maintain orderly passage on the alternate route while palliative work begins immediately on the old iron-made bridge,
