Passenger Dies On Kenya Airways Flight From Nairobi To Lagos
A passenger died on board of a Kenya Airways flight on Tuesday.
The plane had left Nairobi for Lagos and the passenger in question had reportedly become unresponsive shortly before the aircraft landed in Lagos.
The flight was roughly 20 minutes away from its destination when the passenger became unresponsive at about 9:20 pm local Nigerian time.
Despite the cabin crew administering first aid, medical personnel at Murtala Muhammed International Airport confirmed the passenger had passed away after the plane landed at 9:41 pm.
Reports indicate that the passenger in question died following a prior incident where they were denied entry into Madagascar. The airline expressed its deepest condolences to the family noting that they are cooperating with local authorities and aviation regulators while respecting the family’s privacy .
The passenger’s body has been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja pending further investigation.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Kenya Airways confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Corporate Communications Department on Wednesday.
‘Kenya Airways PLC (‘KQ’) confirms that on Tuesday, 06 October 2026, our flight from Nairobi to Lagos experienced a medical emergency on board at around 21:20 hrs local Nigerian time.
One of our passengers was found to be unresponsive approximately 20 minutes before landing in Lagos.
Upon landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 21:41 hrs, the aircraft was met by medical personnel, and upon further examination, the medical personnel confirmed that the passenger had passed away.
We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and apologise for any inconvenience this incident may have caused’ the statement added.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu also confirmed the incident while adding that the police have taken over investigation.
‘The country manager had woken me up this morning to say their own side of the story, and the police will start their own investigations.
