Plot To Cause Rift Between President Tinubu And Gov Abdulrazaq Will Fail, KAG Tells Bolaji Edun, Others

Plot To Cause Rift Between President Tinubu And Gov Abdulrazaq Will Fail, KAG Tells Bolaji Edun, Others

A former Commissioner for Land and Housing in Kwara State, Barrister Bolaji Edun has been warned against driving a wedge between President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq through his public statements and press interviews.

In a statement issued in reaction to Barrister Bolaji Edun’s assertions during his appearance on Arise TV’s programme last week, the Kwara Awareness Group (KAG) also submitted that the plot by the former commissioner and his ilk to set the president and the governor at odds has failed.

KAG in a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Daniel Afolayan, and Secretary, Mr. Ridwan Olalekan on Sunday which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that remarks made by Barrister Edun during the TV programme showed that he was only being demagogic while he had also failed to present fact-based arguments.

Calling Barrister Bolaji Edun a meddlesome person, the group said he lacks moral authority to comment on internal affairs of Kwara State APC given that in public perception, he is still seen and considered as an ADC bigwig not APC bigwig.

‘Media reports said he was not only one of the prominent people that attended the meeting held by Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) at Abolarin Close, GRA, Ilorin a few months ago, but was also the very person who moved the motion asking KRM members to join ADC. At what point in time did he return to APC? He is considered as a meddlesome person because he is not expected to comment on matters that have to do with APC.

It is also important to note that the Convener of KRM, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo is currently the Kwara South ADC senate candidate’ KAG submitted.

The group also called narratives presented by Barrister Bolaji Edun during the Arise TV programme ‘tales by moonlight’ noting that it will be easy for anyone to find fault with and pick holes in his statements.

The statement also noted that at a critical point in the APC presidential nomination process precisely in the presidential primary held from June 6 to June 8, 2022, which had 14 presidential aspirants including a sitting Vice President and a sitting Senate President, Governor Abdulrazaq had ensured that delegates from Kwara State gave Asiwaju Bola Tinubu 100% support adding that anyone who says he was not in support of Tinubu’s presidential bid will be considered as acting against sound reasoning.

The group also said the former commissioner claiming that he intercepted a petition that was aimed at disqualifying President Tinubu from the presidential race is a narrative that contains logical flaws.

‘He was the Deputy National Legal Adviser serving under a National Legal Adviser, he was apparently in an office or a hall with other party officials before being informed that someone was waiting outside, he could therefore not have left the place to receive a petition from the person in question without being asked to do so on behalf of others, what did he tell his fellow party officials when he returned to the hall or the office?

He also claimed he met with the president and assured him that there was no cause for alarm. Presidency will send a petition to a ruling party and a Deputy Legal Adviser will keep it hidden and new emissaries will not be sent or a direct instruction given to the chairman?

He also claimed that Governor Abdulrazaq later had a phone conversation with him complaining about the role he had played but any sane person will know that such a sensitive matter cannot be discussed on phone’ the group said.

Barrister Edun also made contradictory submissions that weakened his arguments by alleging that Governor Abdulrazaq supported his removal as Deputy Legal Adviser by the imaginary cabal when the governor had given 100% support for Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidential bid and worked with others to ensure his victory in the presidential primary.

‘It is unreasonable for anyone to say the governor will work against Asiwaju Tinubu, who had by then emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

It will also go beyond the bounds of reason or common sense to say the governor will join others to punish someone because he had supported Asiwaju’s presidential bid in 2022’ the statement added.

KAG also accused Barrister Bolaji Edun of having a defective character which has therefore made it difficult for anyone to believe the narratives he has presented. He was also accused of trying to cause a rift between the president and the governor.

‘We cannot believe all he has said because it is clear that he is only seeking to drive a wedge between the president and the governor.

He was one of the people who were close to the governor but he is known for showing ingratitude.

That was what he has also done to Alhaji Razaq Lawal who was instrumental in his appointment as commissioner during the late Mohammed Lawal administration.

Since he left government in 2003, he was never loyal to Alhaji Razaq Lawal. He never showed gratitude’ the group said.

KAG also said it is strange that Edun, a lawyer, could fault the outcome of the Kwara State APC gubernatorial nomination process that was taken to the final stage by the committee set up by the National Working Committee of the party for this purpose.

‘Chairman of the Kwara State gubernatorial primary election committee was not nominated by Governor Abdulrazaq ditto other members.

The committee did its job and announced the winner of the primary, what has the governor done to deserve the castigation?  In the eyes of the law, it is whatever the committee says that is expected to be a binding decision while anyone who notices anomalies has the right to make such known to the Appeal Committee.

Getting busy promoting half- truths or stories that are considered as takes by moonlight is inappropriate and out of place’ the group said–Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
