Prioritize Investment Over Immediate Pleasure, Deji Adeyanju Urges Nigerian Youths

Mr Deji Adeyanju, a human rights activist, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace creativity, innovation, and strict financial discipline to secure their economic future.

Team@orientactualmags.com reports that the popular lawyer, who was a panelist at the ‘Yahaya Seriki Empowerment & Enterprise Colloquium 2026’, held at the Arca Santa Arena, Ajase-Ipo Road, Ilorin on Saturday, emphasized the urgent need for young people to rearrange their financial priorities.

He lamented that too many individuals prioritize immediate gratification over long-term, sustainable investments.

To illustrate his point, the activist shared a personal anecdote about giving N1 million to one of his drivers, intending that the money will be used to fund a business for the man’s wife. To his astonishment however, the driver in question used the funds to purchase a premium Samsung smartphone just three days later.

‘When I noticed this, I laughed hysterically’  Mr Adeyanju recounted, adding that he realized at that moment that a lack of financial foresight keeps individuals trapped in poverty.

‘There is a vital need for discipline’ he said.

Mr Adeyanju contrasted this reckless spending with the calculated financial choices of successful entrepreneurs. He recalled a conversation with luxury fashion designer Seyi Vodi, who recently purchased a Rolls-Royce.

‘When Seyi Vodi bought his Rolls-Royce and I visited him, he admitted he felt the financial pain of coughing up that massive sum.

However, he felt it was a justified reward to compensate himself for decades of hard work as he turned 50′ he said.

Mr Adeyanju concluded by urging the audience to develop a mindset focused on delayed gratification, noting that true wealth is built on prudent spending and strategic investments rather than chasing temporary status symbols- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
