Son Urges Bauchi Governor To Prioritize Payment Of Gratuities To Retirees In Facebook Post

Son Urges Bauchi Governor To Prioritize Payment Of Gratuities To Retirees In Facebook Post

Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, who is the son of the governor of Bauchi State, Mr Bala Mohammed has taken to Facebook to comment on the plight of retirees in the state while urging his father to accelerate the payment of outstanding gratuities to them.

That was not all, he has also urged him to introduce targeted empowerment programmes for the young people  in the state as part of efforts to address growing economic hardship.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Shamsuddeen in a Facebook titled, ‘Bridging the Gap: A Call for a Human-Capital Focused Policy’, acknowledged the Bala Mohammed administration’s achievements in infrastructure development over the past seven years which he described as a testament to the governor’s vision and legacy.

While commending his father for his administration’s infrastructure development, he however noted that despite the visible infrastructural development, many residents, particularly young people, continue to face severe economic challenges.

‘The infrastructure projects—our roads, schools, and hospitals-stand as a testament to your vision and legacy. These are milestones that future generations will celebrate

However, as we approach 2027, I feel a responsibility to bring to your attention a brewing disconnect between this commendable infrastructure drive and the immediate economic reality of our people.

The prevailing sentiment on the ground is that while infrastructure is vital, it does not alleviate the immediate economic hardship, the struggle for daily sustenance, or the pain of families still awaiting civil service gratuities.

There is a boiling point of agitation. Our youth are not merely asking for handouts; they are asking for a stake in the prosperity of their state’ he submitted.

He also urged the Bala administration to adopt what he called ‘Social-Economic Empowerment Pivot’ that will focus on human capital development through youth-focused economic initiatives.

Sahamsudeen also suggested seed funding for youth-led start-ups, capital grants for small-scale entrepreneurs and policies requiring contractors handling government projects to prioritise the employment of local youths.

‘We should explore global models of productive inclusion. Let us shift the focus from solely building the state to investing in the citizen’ he addedTeam@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
