Tinubu: Oyetola, Lawal, Others Stay Away As APC National Secretary Calls Osun Campaign Council ‘Bipartisan’
APC National Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Basiru, his immediate predecessor, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, pioneer National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, veteran politician Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, and former Senator Jide Omoworare were among APC bigwigs who attended the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign council at the Oasis Event Centre, Osogbo on Thursday.
However, the leader of the party in the state and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the state APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji and loyalists of the minister, stayed away from the event.

In contrast, the state PDP Chairman, Chief Sunday Bisi; the state Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande; former PDP National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, Osun Central Accord Party senate candidate, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, and Osun West Accord Party senate candidate, Senator Lere Oyewumi attended the inauguration ceremony.
Governor Ademola Adeleke serves as the Osun State coordinator of the campaign council.
While delivering his speech at the event, Governor Ademola Adeleke restated his commitment to ensuring that the president receives 1.5 million votes in the state during the upcoming presidential election.
He described the political figures present as the ‘who’s who of the Osun political terrain’ referring to them as ‘the strikers, the defenders, and the midfielders’.
However, the governor set clear boundaries, noting that the ‘cooperation’ ends with the presidential election.
‘This rainbow coalition of Accord, APC, and PDP structures is superbly potent to deliver Osun overwhelmingly to Mr. President next year January.
Our coalition is solely about Mr. President, a man who means so much to Osun State and Nigeria. Our alliance is about the presidential election, on which we have all agreed to support President Tinubu’s re-election.
As coalition partners in the presidential election, we must remind ourselves that the partnership does not extend to the legislative elections. While we will join hands to deliver Mr. President on his party platform, coalition partners are free to work for their respective party candidates during the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections. What ties us together is the presidential, not the legislative elections’ he said.
He also noted that this is a critical time for ‘the Yoruba people and Nigeria as a whole’ urging the people of Osun State and their political gladiators to accept God’s will and rally round the president, irrespective of ‘our previous disagreements’.
Meanwhile, APC National Secretary Barrister Ajibola Basiru has described members of the campaign council as ‘bipartisan political leaders’.
Team@orientactualmags.com reports that Mr Basiru made these remarks in a Facebook post after attending the event.

‘At the inauguration of the Osun State chapter of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council by the Osun State Coordinator, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, which comprises a bipartisan list of political leaders and officeholders in Osun State‘ he wrote-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
