Kwara state Government on Thursday inaugurated a 10-man Steering Committee tasked with refurbishing and bringing the Kwara hotel back to life. This is coming a few days after the state government ordered the closure of the hospitality outfit.
Taibat Baba Adams , who is the spokesperson for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology , noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that the inauguration ceremony took place in Ilorin on Thursday.
The statement added that the committee has the BIT commissioner, Hon. Ibrahim Akaje as Chairman while Anthony Gana Abu, who is the Director of Staff Matters, Office of the Head of Service, will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the Committee are Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice: Senior Ibrahim Sulyman Esq., Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Aliyu Muhammed Saifudeen, Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Florence Oyeyemi Olasunbo and the General Manager of Harmony Holdings, Mallam Abdulmajeed Abdullahi.
Ajeje Oluwaseyi Bamidele, representative of the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Governor Abdulrasaq’s Special Adviser on Strategy, Alhaji Saadu Salahudeen, Acting General Manager, Kwara Hotel Limited, Mr Salami Moshood and Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi of Omogbenle Adeyemi and Co will also serve on the committee.
Giving his speech, Akaje noted that Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to innovation and regeneration in every sector in the state in order to give the state a new pedigree, disclosing that the rationale behind the taking over of the facility from the Harmony Holdings and handing it over to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, was to elevate the facility in terms of economic productivity and aesthetic facelift.
He assured Kwarans that the closure of the facility was to give way for its rehabilitation and repositioning adding that this will bring it back to life.
The Commissioner listed the terms of reference of the Committee to include mapping out strategies for the rehabilitation of the facility, looking into the welfare of the staff and quantifying the asset and liability rates of the hotel.
He explained that the Committee is also expected to come up with a comprehensive report that will guide the rehabilitation and total facelifting of the hospitality outfit- Team@orientactualmags.com
