2023 Adamawa Guber: Hudu Ari Says No Regrets Over Decision To Declare Aisha Binani Gov-Elect…Denies Bribery Allegations

Hudu Yunusa Ari, who was last month suspended as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC)  in charge of  Adamawa state, has submitted that he has no regrets about announcing Senator Aishat Binani as Adamawa state Governor-elect on  April 16,   2023 .

Hudu Ari, a barrister- at- law, who had gotten a great deal of public attention since  April 16   2023,  has had his whereabouts suddenly becoming unknown having  gone into hiding.

Until he got in the soup, Ari was the  Resident Electoral Commissioner of  the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Adamawa state.

Hudu Yunusa Ari had declared the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Aisha Dahiru, aka Binani winner of the 2023 Adamawa state Governorship election under controversial circumstances on  April 16   2023 .

He had announced Aishatu Ahmed Binani as winner of the election at about 9.30 am  less than two hours before the scheduled resumption of collation.

His action was however declared null and void  while INEC had later concluded the collation of results, declared Governor Fintiri winner of the Adamawa state 2023 Governorship Election and presented him the certificate of return (CoR).

Apart from getting suspended  as REC,  the Inspector General of Police, Baba Usman Alkali was also directed to ensure his arrest and prosecution.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Ari in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Tuesday, asserted that he has no  regrets about his decision to announce the election results while collation was yet to be completed adding that he was empowered to announce election results.

He has also expressed readiness to make himself available to the police.

 ‘I did not ask for a single kobo as a bribe from Fintiri or Binani. I know that collection of bribes is forbidden. I swear, it is a mere allegation. What will I do with N2bn? I also saw that on social media .

I told you I have no regrets whatsoever, when you do something in accordance with the law, there are no regrets. On the police invitation, I must honour it, l  did not go into hiding’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com
