2026 Osun Guber: Again, Imole Campaign Council Alleges ‘Police Intimidation’, Points Finger At CP Gotam
Ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, Imole Campaign Council has accused the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Gotan of providing needed support for APC political thugs to attack and intimidate leaders and members of Accord Party in the state.
The Campaign Council specifically accused Mr Gotan of holding a clandestine meeting in the dead of the night on Thursday to plot how to attack Accord Party bigwigs in the state.
In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Rep Bamidele Salam, the campaign council listed Osun State APC bigwigs that met with Mr Gotan to include Senator Francis Fadahunsi, Hon Wole Oke, and Mr Remi Omowaiye.
‘The police commissioner is openly defying the directive of the IGP that all police officers should be non-partisan.
Since the arrival of the police commissioner in charge of election, Mr Gotan has been running a parallel police structure that he has been deploying alongside APC political thugs to molest Accord Party leaders.
We discovered that while the election commissioner is focusing on building architecture for stabilizing the state for election, Mr Gotan is deploying special squad to arrest Accord leaders and another police team to accompany APC political thugs as they attack secretariats of Accord Party and houses of Accord leaders in Ijeshaland including the arrest of Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin this morning.
The Gotan squad, alongside APC political thugs led by Mr Omowaiye today attacked the Accord assembly candidate in Ilesa as they took over the streets of Ilesa, armed with dangerous weapons in the presence of the police.
The videos are all over the Internet which showed APC political thugs and police destroying Accord party’s campaign billboards as at this morning across Osun East. It is shocking that the police are accompanying political thugs who are launching attacks on Accord members’ the statement said.
The campaign council urged the Inspector General of Police to immediately transfer Mr Gotan out of Osun State to allow the presidential directive for a free and fair election to materialize while also demandig immediate release of over 60 Accord leaders and members under illegal detention including the party’s Ijesa South reps candidate, Hon. Alaba.
‘We further demand immediate disbandment of secret police squad being used by Mr Gotan to support APC political thugs in their daily attacks on Osun Accord members.
