2027 Kwara Guber: ADC Targets Victory As Former Rep Zakari Mohammed Wins Governorship Nomination
Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the State of Harmony, Hon Zakari Mohammed, a former member of the House of Representatives, has won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial nomination
Hon Zakari Mohammed, who was the sole aspirant, had been unanimously chosen as ‘consensus guber candidate’ by members and leaders of the party and he got 18,860 votes in the direct primary held to put a seal on his candidacy.

Secretary of the Kwara State ADC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Architect Shimaka Sekegh, who announced the election results on behalf of the chairman, Orker Jev Emmanuel Yisa, also noted that Hon Risikat Tunrayo Abdulahi, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo and Mallam Taoheed Bala Usman have won senate nominations for Kwara Central, Kwara South and Kwara North respectively.

Other candidates of the party include Hon Abdulkadir Olanrewaju Oba-Aluko, Ilorin West/Asa reps seat, Hon Tope Olayonu, Oyun/Offa/Ifelodun reps seat and Saad Oladimeji Isa, Ilorin South/Ilorin East reps seat.
The collation of results and announcement of the names of the party’s candidates at the state ADC secretariat was monitored by a team from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which was led by Mr Okpanachi Ojodale.

Giving his speech, the state ADC chairman, Hon Babatunde Mohammed commended party members for their efforts noting that he was glad that the primaries have been held successfully.
ADC is according to him a party that loves and promotes peace and will become the ruling party in the state next year.
He urged the party members to return to the 193 electoral wards in the state and begin to work for the success of the party in the upcoming general election immediately.
In his acceptance speech, Kwara State ADC gubernatorial candidate, Hon Zakari Mohammed thanked members of the party in the state for their support while noting that his emergence as the party’s guber candidate is a win for the people of the state.
He also promised to give Kwara State a new face if elected governor next year.
‘By the Grace of God, we will deliver on the ADC manifesto, it is a party for the young people, the women, senior citizens, artisans and everyone. Everybody is welcomed and made to get involved. I assure you that by the Grace of God, ADC will take over the control of Ahmadu Bello, Government House, Ilorin, next year.
I urge pensioners, civil servants, farmers, traditional rulers and everyone to acknowledge the fact that ADC comprises people who are experienced and will not only ensure good governance but can also be held accountable.
Our party members should not be distracted but rather focus on our goals, we are well organized unlike a political party that has announced different people as candidate in the state in just one week We are the pace setter , our people should not fight or attack them, God owns this party and He controls it.
We will continue to take decisions here at our secretariat even after winning the gubernatorial election and after the ADC must have become the ruling party, the two other major political parties apart from holding meetings at their secretariats, they still have living rooms where they take matters to but in our own case there is no ‘baba isale’ because decisions will be taken here.
Everyone who has emerged as candidate in our party, got the opportunity because people supported him or her’ he said.
Spokesman for the state ADC, Comrade Popoola also told Team@orientactualmags.com that it is a new dawn in the State of Harmony and the party is ready to take over the control of the state.
In the meanwhile, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon Zakari Mohammed in a statement issued on Sunday morning thanked members of the party for the confidence reposed in him while promising to ensure accountability, and people-oriented governance.
‘The overwhelming confidence reposed in me by our national leadership, state leaders, stakeholders, and the teeming members of the African Democratic Congress across Kwara State, in adopting me as the consensus Governorship candidate of our great party, is deeply humbling and profoundly appreciated.
I sincerely thank every leader and member of the party for this rare demonstration of trust, unity, and commitment to the collective aspiration of building a better Kwara State anchored on justice, competence, accountability, and people-oriented governance.
I particularly commend my colleagues within the Kwara leadership structure of the party for their patriotism, maturity, dedication, and genuine love for Kwara State in arriving at this historic consensus. Their sacrifices and determination to place the interest of the people above personal ambition have once again shown that ADC remains a party driven by democratic ideals, inclusiveness, and service to humanity.
I accept this enormous responsibility with utmost humility and a deep sense of duty. I wish to assure all party members and the good people of Kwara State that I shall not betray the confidence bestowed upon me. By the grace of God, and with the collective support of our people, victory is certain.
I call on all Kwarans and other Nigerians who desire genuine change to massively support and vote for all ADC candidates from top to bottom in the forthcoming elections. The current economic hardship, suffering, and hopelessness imposed on Nigerians under the APC administration can only be reversed through purposeful leadership and people-centered governance.
Our party stands firmly against godfatherism, political intimidation, and imposed leadership. In ADC, the people remain the center of our democratic process. Our members, supporters, and voters are our greatest strength and the premium focus of our attention, as clearly enshrined in democratic principles.
Together, we shall rescue Kwara State and contribute meaningfully to the rebuilding of Nigeria’ he submitted.
