2027 Kwara Guber: Political Support Groups Drum Up Support For Yahaya Oloriegbe’s Candidacy, Present His Selling Points
Ahead of the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, political support groups in the state have urged members of the ruling APC, and other stakeholders in the state to support Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe’s candidacy citing his good track record.
Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe is a Kwara State APC gubernatorial aspirant.
Submitting that ‘this is not a moment for sentiment’ but rather ‘a moment for clarity, responsibility, and deliberate choice’ , Mr Adigun Adebowale, who presided over the press conference held by the political support groups on Wednesday, also noted that ‘the decisions taken in the coming months will shape not only the political future of our party in Kwara State, but also the trajectory of governance and development for years to come’.
The political support groups held the press conference under the umbrella of Coalition of Progressive For Continuous Developments in Kwara State (APC Stakeholders, Professionals, Youth and Grassroots Mobilizers) at Silver Gate Hotel and Suites, Ilorin and it was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com

Oloriegbe Youth Movement, Progressive Alliance Forum, Asejere Edun Group, Temidayo Group, Engr Yusuf Political Group, Irewamiri Group, Igba Otun Asa Group and Lamp Bearer were among the 18 political support groups that jointly held the press conference.
Mr Adigun Adebowale noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has laid a stabilizing foundation by restoring fiscal discipline, rebuilding institutional confidence, and repositioning governance structures for better service delivery and the task before the party therefore is to ensure that this progress is not only sustained but accelerated through capable, experienced, and steady leadership.
The political support groups asserted that the best man for the job is Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, who has a good track record.
‘It is on this basis that we present with a deep sense of responsibility and without equivocation, Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as the most prepared, most competent, and most strategically positioned aspirant to carry on the progressive mandate of our party in Kwara State.
Our position is not driven by mere political alignment. It is grounded in verifiable records, institutional contributions, and a lifelong trajectory of service that cuts across student leadership, community development, legislative governance at the State and National levels, party administration and national policy reform.
At a time when leadership must be evaluated through measurable outcomes rather than rhetoric, Senator Oloriegbe’s public record offers a compelling case. Notably, these achievements were delivered within a single four-year tenure in the Senate, part of which coincided with the unprecedented disruption of the global COVID-19 pandemic, a period that constrained governance systems and slowed down the economic activities and potential across the world. Yet, within these limitations, he not only sustained performance but delivered outcomes that have since become benchmarks.
His contributions to national health sector reforms have had an enduring structural impact, most notably in expanding access to health insurance, strengthening institutional frameworks, and advancing modern legislation that aligns Nigeria’s healthcare system with global standards.
Beyond national policy, his footprint in Kwara State is both visible and measurable. The facilitation of critical federal institutions, including the establishment of the first-ever Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in the whole of North-Central Geopolitical Zone, located in Budo-Egba, the development of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) State/Zonal office, and the presence of NAFDAC facilities within the state, are not abstract achievements. They represent real economic and social value—creating employment opportunities, improving access to services, stimulating local economies, and strengthening the state’s institutional ecosystem.
Similarly, the establishment of the Idi-Isin Comprehensive Health Centre, affiliated with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, reflects a deliberate effort to bridge federal resources with local healthcare needs. These interventions demonstrate a clear capacity to translate representation into tangible development outcomes.
At the grassroots level, several Primary Health Care Centres and schools across the constituency were renovated, equipped, and strengthened to improve service delivery and learning conditions while numerous communities were provided with access to electricity and potable water sources. These interventions were complemented by large-scale empowerment initiatives that cut across multiple strata of society—youths, women, artisans, and vulnerable groups—directly impacting thousands of lives.
Equally significant is his role in facilitating over 350 verifiable federal employment opportunities for indigenes of Kwara State across multiple Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. At a time when youth unemployment remains a pressing concern, such interventions speak directly to the socio-economic realities of our people’ Mr Adigun submitted.
The political support groups also argued that if such results can be achieved within the limited scope and resources of a legislative constituency, ‘the potential for greater impact at the state level—where executive authority, broader fiscal capacity, and institutional control are available—is both logical and compelling’.
With states increasingly depending on partnerships, innovation, and the ability to attract investment and technical support, Dr Oloriegbe, the group further noted, will be bringing to the job, ‘depth of experience, depth of understanding, and depth of engagement’ while his extensive work with international development partners, multilateral institutions, and reform-driven organizations has equipped him with a rare blend of local insight and global perspectives.
The political support groups acknowledged the diverse composition of ‘our state’ but however noted that Kwara’s strength lies in its unity—across Kwara North, Kwara South, and Kwara Central hence the decision to canvass for a leadership that transcends narrow considerations and reflects a genuine commitment to inclusivity, balance, and collective progress.
‘Senator Oloriegbe’s track record demonstrates a capacity to engage across divides, manage complex interests, and build consensus without compromising on performance’ Mr Adigun added.
Urging the leadership of ‘our great party’ at the State and National levels to give due consideration to competence, experience, and demonstrable capacity, the political support groups also noted that they engaged widely across communities, professional bodies, youth groups, and party structures and got valuable feedback showing that Kwarans desire continuity with improvement, stability with advancement, and leadership that is both accessible and effective-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
