2027: Lending Peter Obi My Car Changes Nothing, I’m Still 100% For President Tinubu- Former Gov Ortom

Former governor of Benue State, Mr Samuel Ortom has submitted that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid remains ‘intact’ saying the decision to make his car available for the use of NDC presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi during his recent visit to the North Central state was only out of courtesy.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Mr Ortom, who made the clarification through his media aide, Terver Akase, said he only extended a courtesy to Obi, who had visited Benue State to meet with victims of the June 2025 massacre in Yelewata.

‎Recall that Benue State Government had accused Mr Ortom of facilitating Mr Peter Obi’s visit to the state and questioned why he would ease things for the NDC presidential candidate during the visit in question while at the same time claiming to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

President Bola Tinubu

Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo had alleged that Ortom  played a role in arranging the visit by the former Anambra State governor, adding that the Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number ABUJA: GWA 608 BT which took Mr Peter Obi from the Makurdi Airport to the places he visited belongs to the former governor..

‎ Mr Samuel Ortom has however clarified and submitted that lending his vehicle to Obi was simply a way of extending courtesy to him and nothing more.

‘Peter Obi is a former governor, a presidential candidate and one of the most prominent political figures in the country. Imagine how it would have sounded if Chief Ortom had refused to assist him with transportation while he was in Benue on a humanitarian mission to visit internally displaced persons.

‎Such a refusal would rightly have been viewed as petty, inhospitable and beneath the dignity of a former governor. Indeed, extending such a courtesy should ordinarily have been the responsibility of the Benue State Government itself, given the status of the visitor.  It is therefore both ridiculous and shameful for anyone to attempt to criminalize or politicize the simple act of making a vehicle available to a fellow Nigerian leader.

That the Alia administration is now trying to make a controversy out of what was merely a humane, courteous and statesmanlike gesture exposes the poverty of its argument and the desperation behind its propaganda’ Terver Akase submitted.

‎He added that extending courtesies across political lines should not be interpreted as evidence of political disloyalty noting that the attempt to portray Ortom’s action as wrongdoing is ‘intellectually dishonest and politically immature’.

‎Akase also said allegations that Ortom is being ‘double-faced’ is laughable-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
