2027 Osun Guber: Veteran Politician Shuaib Oyedokun Drums Up Support For Oyebamiji, Accuses Accord Party Of Engaging In Emotional Blackmail

With the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election three days away, a prominent politician in the country, who is also an APC bigwig, Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun has issued a heartfelt plea for peace while emphasizing the importance of stability in the country during this critical period of democratic expression.

He urged calm, tolerance, and peaceful election campaign as the people of the state prepare for the upcoming guber election scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while appealing to leaders across political lines to caution against confrontations to ensure a stable democratic process.  The veteran politician also said the upcoming guber election is a vital opportunity for the people of the state to reshape local leadership without duress or confrontation

Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun in an interview with journalists emphasized the need for tolerance, respect and constructive engagement among political parties and their supporters while stressing the significance of peaceful elections in upholding the principles of democracy.

Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, who accused Accord Party of trying to emotionally blackmail the state APC , Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and the party’s guber candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji , submitted that Governor Ademola Adeleke has also been playing the sympathy card when in actual sense it is his party, Accord Party that has been engaging in political violence.

He condemned the attempts to paint the APC and its  guber candidate in the bad light  submitting that no one had ever threatened to tear the foundation of the state down asserting that members of the party are in upbeat mood and will earn electoral success on Saturday having built a strong grassroots foundation , mobilized core demographics and persuaded undecided voters.

‘Political desperation has sadly driven some politicians to abandon conventional strategies in favor of extreme, bizarre, or underhanded tactics to retain power.

We have to express concern over the current undercurrent of hostility and the kind of impression being promoted by the Accord Party that the state is like a tinderbox waiting for a single spark to ignite.

 They have turned the streets into arenas of fear.

While the Accord Party had been the one using political thugs to kill APC members, they will be the first to rush to the media raising allegations of political violence.  An election is a democratic contest, not a war that requires tearing communities apart.

APC has chosen peace and unity ahead of the upcoming governorship election but Accord Party has been busy spreading biased narratives and misinformation.

Our gubernatorial candidate will earn electoral success through a free and fair election because violence is not in our character’ he said.

Urging indigenes of Osun State, who live in neighbouring states like Ekiti , Kwara, Oyo and Ondo states and will be coming home to vote to support Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji’s candidacy, Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun asserting that he is the best man for the job.

 ‘With Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as the governor of Osun State non-residents who are indigenes of the state, will be proud of the person in the driver’s seat in their seat.

With the increased federal allocations to states and being a man full of ideas, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji will make good use of the opportunity and ensure the growth and progress of our state’ he said.

Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun also said the sleeping giant has awoken and he feels comfortable about the chances of APC guber candidate and expects the party to record electoral success on Saturday.
